Just wondering. Version 3 was released. Looks like it may have some needed tools for my work flow that I'm missing but wanted some honest feedback on your experiences with this software.
Thank you

Well I guess that's a solid no! LMAO
I had to Google it
I have it ( got it for placing in a contest) but didn't use it yet.
Your thread got me hopes someone would give some advice!
It's got a trial, why not just try it out.
I've used it in the past. It's got a fantastic renderer and some useful tools for my modeling, but for DS use it's probably overkill, but at least it's affordable.
I’m still not sure what it is exactly... or rather, what makes it special... I don’t mean that in a negative manner... I have looked it up before... I keep thinking it’s like Substance, or some sort of 3D painting tool... but the best I can figure is it’s another rendering tool with cool lighting and baking capabilities.
I feel like I’m still missing something though.
Well there is gerrilla renderer, Eeve, Clarisse and others that are free and yes cannot really understand from reading what is different about this one.
Never heard of it. I had to use a websearch to find out anything about it.
Ditto :-) Plus I have a Marmoset GC I have to use before April 30th... I don't know what to do with it yet.
Yea, I did download and try out the trial. I think it's more a rendering engine but trying to get the textues loaded up for G8M was a total mystery to me. Seems you drag and drop them into little slots but I was hoping that it would generate internal maps like Normals and what not but it seems from the vid I watched that you can CONTROL those maps and even do small corrections on them but it doesn't actually generate those sorts of maps. I guess it's back to using Bitmap to Material from Allegorithmic ... I also have Shader Map 4.X so I may fire that up and see what I can get out of that one.
If you are just interested in image to material maps, there is Materialize by Bounding Box Software... it’s open source, and thus free, so it’s really affordable... http://boundingboxsoftware.com/materialize/
Thank you. Is there web site slow as mud or what?
Got the software. Pretty easy to use. The author was pretty quick to answer my first set of questions this AM before I left for the gym. My second set of questions are not answered as of yet. So looks like it's a keeper. The guy is def on the ball with his software! NICE! Thanks so much for the link and suggestion McGyver!
Marmoset Toolbag is a real time renderer and was mostly meant as a beauty shot tool for game artists to show their models for portfolios without having to dive into a full blown game engine. By now it's also used for texture baking I guess? Baking is a common workflow for game assets to get a higher poly details onto a lower poly model.
