I bought him after all as with any other item even an old PC+ one gets an extra discount on both and I want to try him in Carrara

@Vyusur you seemed to have put a lot of love and care into this character and will continue to develop for him. I’m just curious if he’s based on a real person in your life? I feel like there’s a story behind him.( Just curious, if it’s too personal, you don’t have to answer! smiley)

Will he have a female counterpart in the near future?

Probably, I will create some morphs for this figure.

This is a completely fictional character. But you are right, I put a lot of love in him.

I'm intrigued about what advantages come from not building him on the Genesis 8 framework. Were there limitations about the base figure that made this particular character impractical or impossible to do? Has abandoning the base opened up new possibilities?

Obviously not having access to their (potentially very large) existing pose/material/morph/clothing libraries is a very large trade-off for the end user, and the description hasn't really said much about what benefits are offsetting that.

The goal was to create a figure from scratch. Profit is not the main criterion for me.

I bought him, Altern8 skin shaders seem to work good on him.  Here he is with Landis Hair

Thank you all for your nice comments! I am not going to make the same morph for Genesis figure. I can only promise to make more content for this particular figure in future.

I will be happy to do anything I can to help you with ideas, suggestions and creation of add-on products for this endeavor.

I think he’s a great model too, I sadly can’t help in creating content for him but will buy the addons for him, as well as try to create an auto fit clone for him for myself as I enjoy the challenge

The figure is fully compatible with Carrara if you convert the rigging to Blended Weight.  Same for clothing, hair, etc.   Vyusur posted a link to a Carrara use video in the Carrara forum.

Though presumably items that work with dForce might be adjusted to fit the base pose (or a specially made pose) and then simulated.

In fact Autofit is an "very old" feature, dForce is maybe a more "efficient" method today.

I think he might be too young for my use at the moment.  I mainly do young adult/new adult stories.  He does look cool though.  I might still get him but not for my current project, unless I can create a younger brother for one of my young adult characters.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for offering help! I would be more than happy if other vendors make some clothing and hair for him or something else while I keep working on this and other projects.

He doesn't require a special Carrara preset, just simple converting to blended weights make him compatible with this program, as I mentioned before on Carrara's forum. This video demonstrates how he works in Carrara after convertion: https://youtu.be/TBgc-7L1LMM

I keep asking because I cannot do it myself, if someone could create a standalone script to do this,

for those not wanting to use DAZ studio

it would basically need to be a text based file editer like the sort D3D used to make but for batch converting all my uncompressed Genesis 3 and 8 clothes and hairs to Blended weight and saving copies,

we did have Carrara users who can write script exe files, Fenric used to and there is EddyMI3D who can make scripts.

If so I would think using his base mesh as a starting point would make her and him a unimesh sort of set up which would be nice.  Depends on how much polys are in the pec/breast area I would assume.

One downside to owning as much content as I do for MALE figures, be it Genesis 1, 2, 3, or 8, with every character and product I buy, on loading a BASIC Genesis male, have you ever looked at what is inside of the empty figure?  It loads literally hundreds of dials and product bits which I may have installed at some point, but will never or have never used.  You have no choice.  If you installed something that has morphs for a male figure, it loads those bits into the figure whether you want it or not.  This is bloating, and for those who have slower machines or don't realize this, Genesis 3 or 8 male is filled with stuff you don't need.

Having a standalone figure - not loading up all the stuff from your Genesis runtime into the basic figure, is a big advantage - it's lightweight, will render most likely faster, and isn't carrying excess baggage you will never use.

Just one of the pluses to having a standalone figure that doesn't carry the weight of every installed Genesis character/morph/dial...

I'm excited to see what I can do with this new figure, and where he can be taken.  Growing pains are to be had, no question there, but you never know what you can accomplish until you try.

I'm glad this started off with a male, as with the old Generation 2 and 3 and 4 figures, the issues were always with how to you remove the breasts of the female (if you started with that) and make it look like the more flattened chest of a male.  This way around, it starts with a flat male breast/chest/pectoris and will have to be built up to create a female.  Starting off younger you don't have to worry much about making huge breast morphs or moobs.  So learning will be gradual and you can learn and make adjustments from there.  I find this entire journey could be very exciting.  Especially for lightweight scenes with many figures in it.  And then when the morphs come to grow them into adults, it will really become cool.

AutoFit, however, requires a clone shape - distributing a Genesis clone for Leon would require licensing from Daz, just as a Leon clone for a Genesis would require a license from Vyusur

I bought Leon today, and whilst I do think he needs some emotions (I can't see any in the pack!) I have to say he's a fantastic little chap! He's a pleasure to work with and render:

Leon and his little companion in the sunshine

His face is so natural and full of character - he could be the class nerd or equally the mischief maker.

Looking forward to seeing what @Vyusur releases for this little gem soon!

He looks super cute. The kind of talent and the incredible amount of work that must have gone into him for him to be a unique stand-alone figure is impressive! :)
