for Archtectural and other props I find it's an excellent modeler

but it does have it's quirks. it supports bad modeling very very easily, as in Ngons etc. you have to, as ever, model cleanly.

but the main drawback is poly count. it does not handle very high polygon models that well.. but saying that, with components and instancing, it's a very very powerful modler if used right.

also if you hit Sketchucation.com, there's litterally a few hundred Plugins for almost any need you can add to the system....

but if you intend to model Organics or clothes etc, I'd go with an alternate such as Silo, Hex or Blender...

Agree with khai, good for props, but it isn't very efficient and you have to really pay attention to stay on track. I also find the UVMapping rather simplistic. It's a good learning app though.

Yeah, I always thought the geometry it made left much to be desired.

oh I don't know.. I have some good models made in it, its the same as all modelers.. of you model badly, you get a bad model. problem is, SU has a reputation because of the items found in the warehouse... less said about them the better.

    it's all about the disipline.

I offer in evidence all modeled in SU ( and all Quads with a couple of tri's when could'nt be avoided, rendered in poser. moving to a better render  and DS atm)
