Crime Lab lights help please! T_T

I bought the props because of the lights but I realized later that it didn't mention any light. My bad.

How can I make the lights look like the picture 1? (I'm not a pro) Thanks

The fixtures are there so the light presets should be included and looking at the file list, I can see that there's an "exit sign glow" setting under the Iray textures, but the only other light I see identified is "striplight", which is probably them.  The fact that it's sold as Iray-ready would lead me to believe that the Iray shaders are applied to the flourescents and you just don't have them set up high enough.   If you click on the florescent tube, does the texture have an emmisive shader on it?

Not having the product, I can't check (and what I find searching for "Crime Lab" on the store doesn't seem to match - seriously, links are always helpful), but is there a preset that activates emissive materials for the lights?

Make sure your render mode is dome and scene, not just dome. Otherwise yes, please include a link. There was a thread recently about several products where the light surfaces were not set up correctly and not showing like what was in the promos, not sure if this is a similar case or not.

Can confirm, all ceiling lights are off, and there's a lot of them. Setting a value to Emissive (suggest pure white to start) color brings up the hidden properties to adjust the luminance, temperature, etc. The values are very bright (300 cdl/cm^2), so change the luminance units to get a ballpark intensity (kcdl/m^2, gives 1/10th of the original), then go for more precision. If you feel adventurous, set to the typical 18-25W fluorescent and play with liminance efficacy.

    Click, click, click...

Not sure why others are having trouble finding this in the store.  I just did a search for Crime Lab and there it was. https://www.daz3d.com/county-crime-lab   That said, I did just go to the actual store page and read all the panels, where in the first illustration on the left on the bottom row, it says this:  "Ground Floor lighting mats in Ceiling-Floor, First Floor Lighting mats in Roof."  Going to the read me, it looks like there's a section in Presets , in a subfolder for textures where there are options.for both Iray and Carrara

I saw the crime lab product but when looking through thumbnails on my phone I didn't see any that looked like the images above. I see the one promo now.

The ceiling lights have separate material zones, but there are no material presets for the lights, or anything else, except the road markings.

The rooms are populated with props from the companion Crime Lab Props. It's the reception area.

  • Thanks for the responses guys I really appreciate it.

I can't select the lights. When I do it, I select the entire roof. Where can I find the "material zones"? Thanks

  • I double check. I can't find the lights. How I can create light tubes?

Open the Surfaces tab, and using the Surface Selection Tool, click on an overhead light that you want to "turn on". (Note: the entire Buildings group is set to "Not Selectable", so click the little x in the scene tab next to tthe Buildings group to allow you to select something, but you probably already know that).

The selected surface should be automatically selected, but you can move around to other lights that are part of the same prop (there are several different groups of lights, as you would expect to be controlled by a set of switches). Set the Emission Colour and Luminance as previously described.

This is for Iray version using emissive surfaces. The 3DL version can do the same with uberAreaLight props, like the light tube, or making the light's surface emit using the uberAreaLight base shader and adjusting the settings. All of the light fixtures are set to the uberSurface shader, not the uberAreaLight shader, so those will have to be changed to do it this way.

For a light tube, you need to create one (or two) and place it (them) under the light fixture or inside it and set its parameters. It loads with the uberAreaLight shader, so no need to change it. Adjust the parameters to get the light intensity and quality you want.

Sorry to gloss over the details, but there is a lot involved in getting the lighting just right...

  • Thanks for the help NorthOf45! It worked!!!

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me too!
