What Plug-Ins Do Latest Studio Version "Break"... if Any?

I've been using Studio Version 4.9 for some time with no complaints, but recently I've considered installing the latest beta just to explore Gen 8.
Just checking first, though... are there any old plug-ins or features that no longer work in the latest version?
Also, how stable is the new studio? I remember reading in these forums that users were experiencing crashes almost daily after upgrading to 4.10.

Hasn't broken any of mine so far and I have a fair few.

Hang on to your 4.9 for now, I'd say - and copy the installers for 4.9 and any matching plugins like Dynamic Clothing / Decimate / Photoshop Bridge / GoZ if you still have them to a "safe" location in case you want to go back to 4.9.
Then try the 4.11 Beta (I've been using it without problems since it came out) and see if your favourite plugins work before deciding to go to 4.10 release. I've not come across any "newly not working" things, but I still have 4.6 installed to use some of my favourite features that 4.8 or .9 broke.
well Optitex dynamic daz files are broken
they work if saved as duf in an older version which I have but many may not have
Ah, yes - I was thinking only of plugins, not products.
Yes, a number of older products which are stored as .daz files don't work in 4.11 - not sure exactly which version they last worked in (they all work in my 4.6 installation) Not just Optitex dynamics, but also a number of environment products. I scanned all my libraries for .daz files, tried them out in 4.11 and all the ones that don't work I went back to 4.6 and saved them as .duf files. I posted a list in the Beta thread a couple of weeks ago - here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4311556/#Comment_4311556
Ironic that .daz files would be incompatible with the latest version of Studio.
What about stability issues... is the 4.11 beta pretty solid? When the official 4.10 release came out, many complained that Studio had turned into a crash-o-matic.
I've been using the 4.11 beta for months. It's so stable I hate going back to 4.10 to use GenX (4.11 won't see the installation for whatever reason). The renders look better and the shaders are better in 4.11. As far as crashing goes, it doesn't really crash any more than any other version of Studio I've used, which isn't all that often.

Really The .Daz files formats are not recognized? what about PZ3, pp2 or cr2 files? I hope that not being able to use the .daz files format is something that will be fixed at least before the public release other wise. I won't be able to afford to upgrade daz. I have way to many products that use the .daz files formats for me to change them all to duf. what a waste that would be to abandon all those older .daz file formats.
I think they were content files too.
I didn't use DS before 4.7x, but I do have older content. I guess I should think about resaving all that stuff before I can't.

Stil not got GenX2 working in DS 4.11 Beta then? Did you install through DIM or manually originally? If DIM then the "show installed files" should show where the bits and pieces are meant to be and they can just be copied to the /DAZ Studio Beta/ libraries from the /DAZ Studio/ ones - both in Program Files and in your Appdata (if you are on a PC - I've no idea where everything goes on a Mac)
.daz is recognised, but not always read unfortuantely. This is prt of the reason it wa dropped - keeping it compatible as DS advanced had been an issue from the outset, even DS 1 wouldn't read files from some of the betas and there have been other periods when older files have ceased to open correctly. .duf/.dsf are more reliable so far, and being in a standard, plain-text (once uncompressed) format they are also easier to update if necessary.
well we need a batch daz to duf converter before it's too late, I am keeping all my old installers for these sorts of reasons
The trouble is, these are products still being sold in the store which just won't work (unless some fix is made) when DS4.11+ becomes the base release.
ETA: Saving in an older version to get a .duf file is fine, though cumbersome, for those of us who have an older version, but one day (soon?) new users may come along with only DS4.11+ available and buy these products and CS will get a whole bunch of complaints.
Yeah, a lack of .daz or ways to convert them would be kind of a deal-breaker for me. The loss of GenX is saddening but prehaps inevitable, given that the PA involved has passed away.
I believe that you still get DS 4.5 with the SDK.
I have a lot of nerds3d sets and Kens Birds that are in .daz file format not to mention most of Vicky3 & a3 content is .daz files, I sure hope they don't break it more, is pz,and cr files effected as well?
you can contact them and get HW3D updates as they do them, Ken is going through his SBRM
Thanks wendy I guess I will have to
I have DS 4.10.0.123 installed and they work in it.
Lots of .daz in older Platinum Club stuff I've noticed.
BTW for those testing 4.11 is initial file saving still slow as 4.10?
Edited: See below
We'll need a way to keep 4.10 around (perhaps as a separate install, as the beta versions are now) to import and translate .daz files as needed. This shouldn't be that hard for Daz3d engineers to accomplish?
I checked your text file and went to check the PC files you listed. I have the Carnival Carousel so installed both the Poser and DAZ versions and found the DAZ version is in .duf format.
No the Carousel itself is good, it's the La Calesita texture set for it that is still .daz. Maybe I should list the PC+ ones in Jen Greenlees' updates thread and see if they can be scheduled for an upgrade.
Thanks for the info - I couldn't remember when I'd last had them working (apart from in DS 4.6 which I still use alongside the Beta)
Ah. My mistake. The PS version of the Calesita textures has the whole thing in .cr2 format, though. Does Studio 4.11 load that?
The Studio version of La Calesita loads a preformed Carousel (including the base, fence and ticket booth) with all the Calesita textures.
The Poser .cr2 will load the Carousel but you then have to apply the DS materials piece by piece - there are about 9 materials in .pz2/.dsb format, for which you need to select the right parts of the model (including multiple selections for groups of horses, etc) so it's rather more fiddly than the .daz file was. So it can be done but the old way was better.
How do you save .daz dynamic clothing as a .duf file? Do you save as a Wearable Preset or Support Asset, or Scene Subset, or what?
Does it still work with the dynamic plugin after saving it as duf?
I haven't experimented with that, just with exporting them as obj files and then importing them back in and dforcing them and setting up an animated drape to work with Genesis 3. (V4/M4 start pose at frame zero, default G3 pose at frame 30, export the result as an obj with a name labelling it as being for G3, import again, parent to G3, save as wearable preset.)
Thanks. Yes, of course the ideal solution is fix the .daz scene file but meanwhile since the textures are loaded, you could try RSSY converter from 3Delight to Iray (and there may be other converters) which would simplify the process.
I'm just glad the .cr2 files still load because I have a ton of them that are still useful for me.
BTW, i'm still wondering if 4.11 addresses the agonizingly slow saving of scene files (the first time you save)?
I've tried two methods.
1) Saving as a Dynamic Clothing Preset - this sounds like it should be the right thing to do, and it sort of works, but loads with grey boxes to represent the Rig part of the dynamic item. You can make these transparent and the item will drape correctly, but it looks pretty weirdwhen you first see it! (Not sure whether I'd made a mistake with saving options, but I wasn't totally happy with that)
2) Saving as a Scene Subset - just the clothing item alone (not loading it to any figure first). The items reloads just fine (no weird grey boxes) and drapes OK, but I couldn't work out how to get it to load to the figure so that it would move with the figure. I had some instructions found in an old foru thread for loading the original Optitex clothing to Genesis "1" which worked (parent/unparent was the trick) and maybe this needs some trial for newer figures. Meanwhile my sequence is: loading figure / loading scene subset clothing / posing figure / draping cloth / grouping clothing and figure / moving figure is what I ended up doing.
I'm still experimenting to be honest - I'll post agian if I find the magic bullet!
ETA: I mean draping with the Dynamic Clothing plug-in by the way. I had success with several clothing items doing a dForce drape, but that's another story.
