in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)

Having a problem having more than one  version of this hair on a character as when i come to apply materials it only affects the first one.  I wanted to have a thicker set of snakes but using 2-3 sets of this hair in different poses but in essence cant seme to colour them past the first using the materials.  Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Are they marked as H Material at top-right of the thumbnail? That's a Hierarchcial materials preset, and may well affect only the first item. If so, try applying then File>Save As>Materials Preset and apply that to the second hair.
