I hate coming here and being a pest, but I just purchased and manually downloaded [Carly HD for Genesis 8 Female} the above-mentioned product. While it seemed to load just fine after I had checked before loading. (through copying and pasting) when I went to MY Daz Library where I had pasted it, I could find no evidence of it anywhere. Nor did she show up in my DAZ Content files. I went back to my download and took each portion individually and distributed every portion into the appropriate folder. I reopened Daz Studio. Carly appeared in the content then and I thought I'd been successful. I loaded the G8 female and attempted to apply the Carly morphs (as in 'add head', 'add body') and there were absolutely changes when those commands were clicked.

I went on to try and apply her 'hair' and 'materials', and they seemed to apply just fine. Either something is very wrong with my version of DAZ STUDIO 4.10, or I am just stupid. Stupid in the sense I cannot figure out why some products I purchase load just fine using my tried and true 'copy and paste' method, other products simply refuse when using the same method. It's getting to be a 'Pay your money and take your chances' thing with me. I know these products are supposedly tested and tested, so I have two choices: either I'm stupid or my DAZ platform hates me. I know my pictures probably aren't as attractive as most, but that's no reason for my Daz Studio to despise me. Has anyone else had these issues with Carly?

  • Why not install with Install manager, or through the Install pane in DS? Those are designed to reduce the chances of mis-instalaltion - and if things do go wrong it's usually just a question of making sure the non-default paths being used match.

Do you see the Carly morphs on a G8F figure when you load it? Do you have issues with other morphs? I seem to remember morphs and texture files are the two things can be tricky about where you copy them. Do you have the data folder and runtime folder set up in the directory that is mapped in DAZ studio?

  • Richard? I've tried numerous times with install manager. It tells me I have no such account. Just tried your alternate 'Install Pane' method. Although it took a momentary learning curve (as I have never used it), it did do the trick. I owe you many thanks for such a simple solution. As it turns out, I AM partially stupid. Or maybe ignorant to the total workings of Daz would be a kinder way of putting it. I am still at a loss as to why the old 'manual load' works so infrequently anymore. It served me well for years until here recently. From now on, as long as it sticks by me, I will be using the 'Install Pane' method.

Thanks for your kindness in dealing with my lack of knowledge.

  • Thanks for your reply,  AlmightyQUEST! I was very careful in making sure each and everything in the download was placed in its corresponding folder. Is it possible a mistake was made? Maybe, but unlikely. I understand the importance of the hierarchy of folders and files as well of the importance of adhering to same principle. I have no explanation as to why sometimes the usual 'copy and paste' manual method works and why it doesn't. I've used it on various platforms for over a decade with positive results. I'm sure there are many here using Daz that use the same method.
