WishList Sale

  • Mine's showing 59 of 83, but only 2 are on my wishlist.  And really, the 155 items on my wishlist are only there because a 60% off sale is insufficient to bring them into my budget.  If 60% was enough they would have been bought long ago.

It's a collective 'your'; the your wasn't emphasised or elaborated on.

Think there were 3 of mine in the list, but wasn't tempted.

There are only 83 items on the list - so of course, some people's wish lists will not have much, if any, representation there. I'm sure that it's probably just the top 83 items that are wishlisted in general. Apparently I'm a sucker for the popular stuff though as 37 of the items are on my wishlist and 27 more of the listed items I already previously purchased. lol :)

Eh, rendo has wishlist sales and they work fine. Doesn’t seem that hard to do. wink

As far as I've been able to tell, that's basically what their wishlist sales are.  All of the ones I've seen them run almost the entire store is at 50% off

I don't shop over there very often, but I do like their "wishlist" sales. After spending so much time shopping on Daz, 50% off doesn't seem like a lot. But look again. Rendo doesn't have the deep discount sales that Daz does, and many of the products listed there are less expensive than comparable products here. And while the discount during those sales is only 50%, you don't have to buy multiples to get that discount.

As for today's sale, It's a real shame Daz limited it to only 83 items. Two or three hundred products would have made it a much harder promo to ignore! As it is, I'll save my money for things I can't do without, (which are products that never make it to my wishlist!)

...no G8 stuff for me, I ended up getting off the bus at the G3 stop.

So - as a result of this sale, I checked out my wishlist for the first time in forever and found a bunch of stuff for "free" (see image1)

I thought to myself "OMG!! AWESOME!! MUST HAVE!!" so added the item to my cart (see image 2)

Then clicked the continue shopping button and saw the item was added to my cart (see image 3)

HOWEVER, when I actually went to checkout, the item is not there :( The link for the item takes me to a 404 Page Not Found error.

Can anyone please explain what is really going on here? If the items are no longer sold by DAZ at all, why are they even still showing in my wishlist? If they are in fact free, why won't they show up at checkout? This is happening for all the items listed "free" - not just one of them.

    Sad & confused :(

*Edited to add images cause I forgot them *doh*

  • Software issue/error. The store can't find the item and can't find a price. It can happen right when items are added to the store as well, some pages will say free, some will say undefined, there might be a few other versions of the error. But yes, it appears a large number of items were just removed from the store.

This "sale" sure was a clever marketing idea.  NOT.

I recently went through of all DAZ catalogue, wishlisting tons of stuff, with the intent of eventually built a consistent wishlist. As a result, I had 2425 items and bought a lot during the recent PC sale bringing my total to maybe 2390. This number fell to about 2330. That would be about 2.5% of items retired (means several hundreds of them) if my wishlist was a representative sample. (I'm not sure it is, though, since it might have included a dsproportionate number of old items) A number of items that were on the PC sales the other day seem to have disapeared, though.

I wish DAZ would announce what is going to be retired, though.Especially since many times I've bought a product that I didn't really want because it was required for a product I actually wanted and intended to buy in the future (for instance because the required product was on sale). And generally speaking, I wouldn't have bought the same assets during the recent PC sale, for instance, if I had known that many articles on my wishlist would be retired (for instance I hesitated for long about buying or not the summer/spring/winter princess garnments. I bought the autumn one, for which I had everything required, and one or two of the required products for the others, if I remember correctly).

I assume they don't do that on purpose (after all, I spent the same amount anyway, so there's no loss for them, and maybe next time I'll buy *more* out of fear that the product will dissapear like the complete set of season princesses and their required products, and finally, me buying 10 old items instead of one new for the same price means ten times more expenses for them, like in potential customer support, for the same income), but I still find it grating and irritating and poor customer service, since plenty of people are going to be disapointed like me that they didn't have a chance to buy what they wanted. From this point of view, I vastly prefer renderosity's model with their list of products soon to be discontinued.

That said, of the 83 items in the "wishlist sale", I own 7 and have 27 on my wishlist. So, I'm rather favored, even though I'm not sure I'm going to buy any, given the amount of money I spent on the PC sale.

@CreekyPointStudios, Unfortunately, you were viewing your wishlist at the same time the product database was being updated to remove products from the artist who created them. Moyra is going to be missed. I have numerous products of hers, (probably hundreds,) textures for products in the store. Apparently she decided it was time to move on. She has a store at Rendo, though at this time, there is only one item in there.

Here are some relevant quotes from other threads. First from Richard, regarding the products:

They are permanently removed, as far as we are aware, though purchasers will still have the files in their order histories. It should be pointed out that in general PC items cannot be removed like this, Moyra's was a special case due to her being one of the PC founder members.

And then one from Jack, on why she left Daz3d:

Just wanted to say that there’s is no conspiracy or impending doom. Simply put, Moyra decided to move on, and we wish her well :)

If it shows as free, then it's been removed from the store.

Remembering the days when weekends I would pile my cart with 1.99 items. was spending a minimum of 20 bucks a weekend.

i hardly pile my cart with 3.99 items to spend 20 bucks a weekend, just doesn't have that spree feeling.

I thought what I saw over there might be THAT Moyra. Well, what a loss for Daz. I have so much Moyra stuff going back years and years :(.

Yeah, I don't think anyone likes when you have to stack a product on top of another product on top of yet another product to get what you see in the product's illustration. That's one of the things I hate most about shopping at Renderosity... fully half of that store is nothing but textures for other products, many of which aren't even on the market anymore, and there's no easy way to dig through it looking for product with actual geometry.

Strangest thing is, I'm hearing people go "none of those items were on my wishlist" or "there were 82 items on my wishlist and 3 of them are in the sale". I'm looking at the items in the sale and thinking "I love AprilYSH, but I can't imagine they got four items into the top 80 that appear in wishlists" so I don't think there was an algorithm, at all.

I picked up six items in that sale. Turns out five of them were addons from Moyra. As others have said, if I'd known she was leaving Daz3d, I'd have bought a lot more from her store during that sale. My only consolation is knowing they will be available again, elsewheRe, at some point in the future. (Yep, that's insider information.)

Nice to know they will be availble again even if it is at a different venue; though probably not at anythinhg close to PC+ prices. If there had been some warning that they would be pulled I could have gotten what I wanted in the recent PC+ sale when addons including textures were 70% off.

It had previously been my understanding that PC+ items were exempt from being removed; but I guess that wasn't really true. So, anyway, it now leaves me a bit disappointed in the PC+ club

Since I can no longer use the store to search for ALL of the add-on textures for PC+ outfits/props (due to Moyra's departure) is there a way for me to compile a list of them? I use the Products folder to access my files; so, I don't know if all of Moyra's stuff is listed under her name in each respective category (and I'm not at my machine now).

That is the general rule. Daz purchases and owns items offered in the PC+ Club these days. (I've seen a lot of products go from PA to DO to PC+ in a matter of a week or two.) However, as Jack mentioned somewhere, Moyra is one of the founders of the original Platinum Club, (she was with Daz for 19 years!) and it appears she had negotiated different terms with Daz rather than selling them her products outright.

It would be nice to know if any other PC artists have an agreement like Moyra had, just so we can give wishlisted products a bit of a priority when they go on sale.
