RPG Series

Hi.  I've been doing searches for Poser-capable 3D models of RPG (aka D&D, Middle-Earth-like) figures.  In particular, at the moment, I'm looking for a Dwarf Fighter/Warrior type figure.  Google searches have produced results for an entire RPG series (which includes kitted-out male and female Dwarfs), but clicking on the links results in a 404.  Subsequent searches here on DAZ don't produce anything either.

I'm assuming these have been removed?  If not, can someone point me in the right direction, or does anyone happen to know if they are being sold somewhere else perhaps?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
TIm

From memory, the were pulled late September '17. Haven't been available anywhere else since.

I fear they are gone for good.

  • Ooof. crying  Other then a little "bloat", I'm not sure why these things are pulled.  It's not like they are taking up physical space, or putting a load on hardware even.  I mean, even if they sell 1 a year, still a sale, no?  Shame.  Double-shame, because I'm not seeing a whole lot out there to replace most of these things.

Thanks for the info though. Take care.

Actually, looks like they did not make it to 2017 ... interesting they still show up in Google searches, though.  (Though there is not a cached version).

Looks like the creator was Jon Malis ... anyone know if he is still around here on the forums and/or other sites?

There is some discussion on the subject here:

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/198856/lourdes-and-lisbeth-n-stores-missing

The Artists responsible for this series and several other matching historical sets stopped producing new work.

Their stores were closed, there is more to the equation then just server space.

But still I feel a (non logical) loss, these were the product's that got me interested in buying from the DAZ store

  • It's odd, we have centaurs, gargoyles and elves (so many elves) but no dwarves or halflings (I know there could be rights issues but still WotC gets around Tolkien by hot using hobbit) or gnomes or dragonmen or half-orcs or any of the other PC races.

  • I have 2 sets I picked up in the last year that are still available. Raw Dwarfology for Genesis https://www.daz3d.com/raw-dwarfology by RawArt and LY Fantasy Races HD Faces and Bodies for G3F & G3M https://www.daz3d.com/ly-fantasy-races-hd-faces-and-bodies

Dwarfology has 7 body and head morphs apiece for female & male dwarves, plus 3 heights so lots of variety. I like it a lot.

Fantasy Races also has elf, orc, gnome, & halfling morphs for male & female, 1 couple for each race. The elves have more of a classic Tolkien look than the others; the halflings are not at all stocky and the orcs remind me of the ones in the Warcraft movie. I haven't played with this one.

John Malis items were made for V3 and M3 at most, so converting them to newer figures would have been quite a bit of work.

There's Dwarf for Genesis or Bolnar the Dwarf for Genesis 8 Male for the fighter type, and Dwarf Generator for Genesis 2 Males, very halfling-ish. Plenty of goblins, trolls, orcs, half-so or otherwise, several dragonmen types, and a gnome or two, including the garden variety, if kind of stiff.

There are also loads of morph sets and packages that can be used to create a wide variety of dwarves, depending on the style you are going for. I mean, a little bit of George, a bit of Muscular from one of several morph sets, height adjust, and a variety of skin textures... and there you go. (Amusingly, I think the Giant skin would look great for a dwarf... and oh man now it's in my head and I'll have to try that)

I think the OP mentioned things being Poser capable, so I am guessing the stuff post Genesis 2 maybe unusable, and even Genesis 1 and 2 may be undesirable if he/she doesn't like messing with DSON.

Oh, my bad. I think HFS has some fantasy shapes pre-G3 on Rendo.

Dariofish's rendo store has fantasy morphs (including a stand alone morph pack for dwarves) for gens 1 and 2. Should be dson compatible. Not sure if i'm allowed to post other store links outside of the product suggestions forum (though i may have done it before and no one has hit me... yet), so search for DarioFish under vendors at renderosity.

Ah, overlooked that, too. There is always Creature Creator for M4 and V4; still quite a bit from RawArt, Valandar, Predatron, GhostofMacbeth, to name a few. Morph packs for Mill Gen 3 are still available, too.

Just need them in the background, and they will be slightly out-of-focus so M3/V3 would be just fine.  I'm basically looking for something I can put together very quickly, as this scene has a lot of things going on it.

Yes, exactly.  But a big thank you to everyone who tried to help, and those with an explanation of what has happened to these (and obviously MANY other items.)  Yeah, I'm an animator, so I don't really use DAZ Studio.  As I mentioned it's a complex scene, and I have to animate it, so I can't spend a whole lot of time creating things this time around.  Was hoping to find something (like the RPG Series) that I could just plop-in, pose and animate.

Did you look at Sixus1's Dwarvez series over at renderosity?  (at least I think that's where they wound up.)  I'm pretty sure they were made for Poser

Thanks, guys.  I did see those, but they're just a bit too 'toonish for my purposes.  But they are very cool looking, I agree ... just not practical for this setup.  I appreciate the input though.
