Umm...not sure why my name has been added here... I'm still very much a vendor here and all the products I have made are still in the store...
Yea ! Chip is back: https://www.daz3d.com/chip
Wait.. I'm Gone? Why does no one tell me these things? An d who do I blame for the garbage after my name??
LOL *waves*
Um, no. That's not true. DAZ keeps products in the store as long as they continue to sell, and they don't have to sell much for DAZ to keep them in the store.
I haven't produced a new product for several YEARS now... and yet, my "old" products are still in the store. In fact, my very first product at DAZ-- the Pacific Seaperch, which was released in 2003-- eighteen years ago-- is still in the store. It never was and hever has been a "best-seller," but it continues to sell-- one or two here, one or two there.
In short, DAZ is NOT some money-grubbing enterprise that tosses out old products just because they aren't "hot sellers."
There could be any number of reasons that a vendor vanishes from DAZ, or that products vanish from the DAZ store. One is if the vendor moves to another store that requires him to sell his products at that store "exclusively"-- in that case, he'd have to remove his products from DAZ and either sell them at the other store or "retire" them. There are many other possible reasons... but I've never heard of DAZ requiring me or any other vendor to produce "new content" to remain in the store, or to sell any set number of copies of a product to remain in the store, or anything else of the sort.
I've been a vendor here since 2003, so I do know what I'm talking about. I hope this clears up the matter.
Actually, long ago I had a product (a joint product with several other vendors) in the store that was reguarly selling a small number, but I was removed as a PA when DAZ cleaned out a bunch of vendors such as myself that had not produced any new products in a while. Maybe that is no longer a policy, but it was done at least once in the distant past.
