Xurge stuff.

I have a bunch of Xurge stuff and am trying to use it but I find I don't understand enough of the problems using poser materials especially renderings with displacement maps. I'm hoping there are people here that work with this stuff to help out. Or perhaps someplace with tutorials in using displacement maps and for that matter applying IRay mats to this stuff.

Am I making sense here?

I've used a lot of Xurge's items and have had no problems in Iray with them.
I can't help you with the Displacement, however I have just used the Iray uber shader  and adjusted the surface properties as needed depending upon the material, e.g, leather, metal, etc.
I have had a lot of luck using Mec4d's excellent pbs shaders vol1 on them.

Iray doesn't handle displacement the same as 3Delight or Poser's legacy render engine in that it needs a highly sub-divided mesh to have any fine details.

    1) You need to apply the Iray Uber Base shader to the suits and then you can start working on them.

    2) You need to know what the Iray shader options do.

I don't use displacement anymore with Iray, it uses too much memory since you have to do several levels of sub-division on the mesh to get them to look good. I create normal maps from the diffuse texture or the bump or displacement textures depending on the need, I use ShaderMap 3 for that. For example, I may use the bump mat for veins in skins and a normal map for the small details on the skin (this technique I used recently with Sanctum Art's 011 Horde figure).

These renders of Xurge's Enforcer were done when I was still using displacement. The settings for the displacement I used are:

    Strength: 1

    Min and Max Displacement: 0.50

    SubD Displacement Level: 3

I used Bump, as well, set at 1.

  • I bought, downloaded and installed the Hypersuit V4 product.

I installed it into the poser side of my Daz3D software and then opened Daz, loaded V4 and attempted to load the hypersuit but nothing happens.

I tried loading the red and the black suit, even the helms but nothing happened.

The screen cycled like it was loading something but Vicky remained buck naked.

After 12 or 15 fruitless tries Vicky complained of tiring and chills and I gave up.

    What am I doing wrong?

  • I don't have this product, but if it is showing red and black versions in the folder you are in, that may be the materials for it. Since I think this is a poser format, are you looking in the "Characters" folder in the runtime?

First you must load the armor ( .cr2 file in Character folder) and apply the red/black material preset ( .pz2 file in Pose folder)

Yes ! There is the Hypersuit clothe and Hypersuit texture expansions that are two different products. You must buy/load the clothe first before apllying the expansion textures

Yes, Red/Black is only the Texture Expansion for HYPER SUITS ( This product includes only textures, M4 & V4 HYPER SUITS not included ! )
