Wow, that's an awesome render and character composition.
Thanks...oh and yes...me too....I mean "closure" like for final character style....I think Hellboy create the perfect text to use on it with the right add-on...now we need more

Some day I'm going to render someone other than Maxx again. But today isn't that day.

Here's my rendition of Maxx, he is fantastic addition to the G8M lineup ...
Darn , my picture always end up in front of my text caus I forget to move the cursor and I can't seem to fix it after I've posted.
this is very cool. what bike model is that?
Here's my rendition of Maxx, he is fantastic addition to the G8M lineup ...
@daveso Thank you so much. The bike is Road Cruiser by Polish here at Daz. Great model!

Maxx fits the bike image well
OH WAIT - I did buy it ...another one bought and forgotten. yikes
Great you already got the bike, yes it goes with Maxx real well! I have had it for awhile but this is the first time I have used it.

May I know what props e.g. water and stones used here in this awesome product render. I ist from here or other market place. Thanks
Hi, Hellboy: I have the Maxx HD Megapack. I can't get the Gens to take any of the Skin Shades. I get an error message:
"2020-03-04 10:39:36.315 Loaded file: Maxx Skin Shade 01.duf
2020-03-04 10:39:50.263 Invalid hierarchy for selected node(s) and "preset_hierarchical_material" type; no root(s) found.
2020-03-04 10:39:50.265 Error reading file, see log for more details."
The same thing happened with the Default skin, which is supposed to be hierarchial presets, nothing separate for the gens. However, I was able to figure out which files to load onto the gens. Then, I saved the gens default skin as a material preset. That seems to work.
The Problem: I can't figure out which file or files to load onto the gens to get the default skin shade 01 or 02, etc. I'm assuming the files are labeled sequentially. I know where the files are in the Runtime/Textures/ etc. folder. So, I think if you tell me the name of the default skin shade 01 file, the file I should load upon the gens, that should work. If the names are different for the other skin shades, I'd need to know those names also. I'm on a Macintosh, btw, and perhaps that's why the hierarchial presets don't work. I don't know. For some products, they do work. For other products, no.
If I can't get the skin shades to work on the gens, could you make up separate files for those shades, and include them as an update to the product?
I'm working on a project for a client, involving poses and scenes, so I do need to know how to do this, that is, how to change the skin shades.
I've had the Maxx HD MegaPack product for a while. I bought it as soon as it came out. I just never bothered to fiddle with the skin shades. So, I only discovered this problem, at least with me and my computer, yesterday.
After loading Maxx, load the gens, making sure that they are fit to and parented to Maxx. If Maxx is not selected when loading the gens, they might fit to Maxx, but they won't be parented. If unsure, right-click on the gens in the scene tab, and select Fit To... , ensure that "Parent to Target" is selected and accept.
Now, any hierarchical material preset will apply to everything if Maxx is selected in the scene tab. Note that Skin Shades will only show in Iray preview or renders.
If the tan lines are enabled (i.e., if you use Maxx !All Mats Complete), they will always follow the base Maxx materials, regardless of the selected Skin Shades, so you will have to set the tan lines color manually, or change the bitmap used, on every surface that uses them.
@NorthOf45: Thank you. I will try this, as soon as I get a moment, and see if this works for me.
OK, I tried it. Yes, it is working for me now. Thank you again, NorthOf45
Glad to help

I haven't tried the tan lines yet. I don't know what is meant by having to set the tan lines color manually. If I apply the tan lines, I'm assuming I look in Surfaces for something, and that's where I could change the tan lines color. Could someone please explain this part to me. I want to try it and learn.
Also, I don't understand what is meant by changing the bitmap used, on every surface that uses them. Again, I'm assuming I look in Surfaces. Where exactly do I find the tan line bitmaps? And, to what might I change the tan line bitmaps?
I would like to learn these things, so hopefully someone will explain them to me.
You picked a unique case for learning. Maxx uses a custom Iray shader (called Layered Skin) with extra channels for these Tan Lines, Skin Shades and Tattoos added to the regular Iray shader. They are used on the surfaces in the Skin-Lips-Nails group under the Maxx figure in the Surfaces Tab. Each of them has both a Weight and a Color that can be adjusted (along with a few other advanced technical adjustments). The Skin Shades adjusts the Color and Weight, using Maxx's texture bitmaps. The Tan Lines adds an opacity mask and Weight to the base Maxx texture, but does not adjust the color, so what shows is Maxx's untinted base skin texture. All you need to do is set the Tan Lines Color to something less white, more gray. There is a helper script in each folder (Skin Shades, Tan Lines, Tattoos) that pops up an info dialog box with some explanation.
OK, I read the explanation. Still don't understand. So, I go into Surfaces, and I select . . . Tan Lines? . . . or is it Skin Shades? See, there's so much in the Surfaces Tab, that I don't know what to search for. But then I need to set the Tan Lines Color to something less white, more gray. Could you provide maybe one or more Screen Shots?
Skin Shades tints the skin, all of it. You don't need to manually change the color or weight if one of those presets is good enough.
Tan Lines uses another instance of the skin textures and lays it over the tinted skin, similar to how the Diffuse Overlay or Top Coat work. If you set the Tan Lines weight to zero, they will disappear. As you increase the weight, they become more pronounced. Thing is, they use the untinted base texture, so they will be very pale if used on a dark skin. Adjusting the color of the Tan Lines will make that overlay darker, to something more appropriate for the Skin Shade you are using. That default color is pure white, and gives the palest Tan Lines, which would look pretty odd on, say, Skin Shade 14. Clicking on the Tan Lines color will open the color picker dialog, so drag the pointer on the vertical bar on the far right to get something gray-ish. Adjust as you like.
Thank you so much, NothOf45. I think I understand now. I'm going to try this first chance I get.
@NorthOf45: OK, I have been playing around with this. I now think I understand how to do the tan lines. And, as an added bonus, I can now alter the skin shades color, at least that's what seems to be true. (I'm still a little apprehensive about all of lthis.) But thank you very much for your help.
