I would hazzard it vaguely resembles something with a similar name from a game or movie but only speculation

  • Because it sounds better than generic fantasy outfit 890729.

  • My initial reaction was that with a few texture changes, it would serve much better as a modern/SF outfit. To my eyes, the "cut" of the clothing doesn't say "fantasy."

With the lacing and what looks like greaves, I'd say it looks more fantasy than sci-fi or historical. Though "Soul Keeper" screams cleric, wizard, or sorcerer to me, while the outfit looks more rogue than anything else.

Whatever a Soul Keeper does, though, they must bang their shins a lot...

I'm not sure what it is. I wouldn't have textured it like it is, because I think it just highlights how much each piece doesn't look like it goes together. Maybe if it were all one color but varying in texture it would look more cohesive? *shrug*. Now, I could always use more stuff like the dforce torn clothes ;). They look super useful. Oh, and DIRTY textures. Why doesn't anyone do dirty textures? surprise

Soul keepers must be dual class cleric/rogue. Think of them as retention specialists, so they have to wear light armor like that. ;)

"Soul keepers" to me implies at least a partial class as a warlock, and warlocks do wear leather armor. The outfit is not terribly thematic, but I suppose it's practical-ish.

I thought it was going look similar to what the “Soul Reapers” from the anime show “Bleach” wear... but I guess not.

What genre is this actually? Is it sci fi?
    ???

Well, since it's in the "3D Models > People > Clothing > Fantasy > Genesis 8 Female" part of the shop, I'm going to go with "Fantasy."

Not every female fantasy outfit has to look like a chainmail bikini, I rather like that this one is relatively modest and practical by the standards of the genre (though the heels are still a little too high imo).

And yeah, the outfit - or parts of it - would also work in Sci Fi or even just modern real-world renders. That's a good thing, isn't it?

I don't worry about what Daz outfits are called, hardly any of the names mean anything when you think about it.

Have that actually and I use it a lot :). But it still doesn't look as good as deliberate dirty texture maps (at least ones that are done well). Like the dforce torn clothes - it would stand to reason that if they're ripped, they're probably going to be dirty too, especially if the tears developed during fighting, climbing or other harsh treatment. I do realize some people used to rip their jeans especially on purpose ;). But, I digress.....

I don't know what it is either, but I like it! Of course the texture add-on is a necessity, and I figure I can mix and match the textures on the parts in order to get something that looks more coordinated. The jacket doesn't really work for me though.

Pleased to see Eva 7 making an appearance, too.

    That about says it.

I think the tops with the laces say peasant to me. It needs a peasant skirt and those little medieval shoes. Lose the bolero, and the laces on the top and boots, and it could be sci-fi with re-texturing. It would be a real stretch for me, but if she had a bow and arrow, she might work as fantasy defender for faeries. You'd def have to buy the addon textures. Though the black and red texture addon looks more like bullfighter to me.  The pants fabric is super shiny too unlesss it's just the lighting.  It may be popular for the addons alone. Put her in the right scenario and it might work.

I'm thinking of a royal courtier standing around in a throneroom. This throne can be historical, fantasy, or sci-fi. I have tons of outfits that came with Pro Bundles for which I have no use whatsoever---other than a throneroom scene where people need to be decked out in extravagant outfits with no earthly purpose or rationale. If the laces are changed to goldleaf or some soft metallic shader, then they connote excess rather than peasantry.

    That's my theory as well.

Each piece, individually, looks very good, but I agree with AllenArt that they don't seem to go together. More like a kitbashed outfit--but one where at least some components weren't retextured or re-shadered (is this the term?) so they look they go together. Now if I were into G8, I like the look of several pieces (low heels for the win!!) enough that I would get it to kitbash/mix & match.

  • Check out some isekai genre manga and it might start to make sense.
