Splitting up my freebies from my purchases

Ok, so I did exactly what I wasn't supposed to do.  I put all my freebie products in the same folders as my purchased stuff.  It made it easier to find things at first, but now my Daz library is all bloated with freebies and I need to separate them out to put them on a flash drive of their own.

Is there any way of separating them other than just manually going through each folder and pulling them out?  Like, can DIM help in some way or something?  I doubt it, but there's just so much about Daz Studio that I still don't know, I thought I'd ask before I start this monumental task.

Also, here's a PSA - DON'T do what I did! Keep your freebies away from your purchases!

I guess an extreme measure would be to uninstall everything with DIM. Then anything left is a freebie. Move it all. Then reinstall everything with DIM again. If you saved the zip files DIM downloaded, you wouldn't have to download them again.
  • Sounds like it is more trouble than it is worth. But you can uninstall items individually from the Daz Install Manager if you go to installed items and click the arrow on the right hand side for each item. Now placing items on a flash drive is a whole new ball game. Good luck.

My only concern with freebies is their terms of use. As long as they are usable commercially without  citations I keep them. I don’t bother with freebies I must promote, thank, or provide credit for everytime I use them.

I'm exactly the same way.  I only download freebies that are unrestricted or for commercial use with no credit needed.  Otherwise it's too much of a hassel to keep up with.

I'm thinking about re-doing my computer anyway (it's got some glitches going on), so I may just go ahead and try that.  I don't keep the zip files, so I'll have to re-download, but I guess that's just the way it is.

I tend to agree; that isn't free.

Rob has said there is a (new, I think relatively recent) trick up DIM's sleeve - if you change the active install path in DIM, for example picking the new one at the bottom of the main window in one of the isntallation tabs with the Details box checked, then select your installed content packages in the Installed tab and right-click on one of them>Re-Install package(s)>All Selected it will uninstall from the original location and reinstall to the new.
