Scene optimizer instructions or tut?

I’m thinking about getting the scene optimizer product and was wondering if there are instructions that show you how to use it or at least some tuts?
I kinda want to see how it works first.

Go to http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/41479/start and read the pdf near he bottom; this the manual that comes with the product. I have it but haven't used it yet but people seem to love it....
I used it today to render a scene that my computer was refusing to cooperate with and it's really fantastic. Up until recently I found it intimidating, though, because the while the comprehensive documentation and tons of options are great, without context for them it kind of makes it look like there's a lot you have to take into account when using it. The attached images show how straightforward Scene Optimizer is to actually use if you just want to do exactly what it says on the box.
Normally I wouldn't use it on a closeup of a character's face like this, but I figured it might be helpful to show exactly what degree of quality reduction we're talking about if you just hit the button without tweaking anything (as my grandma would say, it will never be noticed from a trotting horse).
Thanks folks I'm sold!
I think the perceived reduction in quality, if any, is down to the texture size that the are reduced to, the size of the image being created, how close-up it is; the quality of the images being reduced may make a difference too.
The images you posted are 1000x1000 roughly; if you reduce the head textures x4 from 4k to 1k they will still be large enough for the face, so there shouldn't be any noticeable reduction in quality as a rule.
There are reasons why you might see it; most textures are jpg, and seem to be saved at a higher quality, although I have noticed the occasionaly lower quality one. Not an issue unless reducing in size or continually open the image, saving again, and then opening that saved image (at a reduced quality).
I like scene optimiser; even reducing images from 4k down to 1k it is rare to see any issues even close up - or so I've found so far.
This thing is a Godsend. Follow the tutorial listed above, but the quick way? Activate the program, check the size of the texture maps, and reduce x2 (usually all you need.....so 4096 -> 2048). Has turned my 2-3 (max) figure scenes into 4-6.
Scene Optimizer is great for rendering really massive scenes, or complex closeup scenes. I use it often. Your main character can keep their big textures, in needed.
As an aside, if you have several G8 characters in your scene, an easy way of reducing the render load is to get rid of any G8 eyelashes that won't be visible in the render, as they hog resources.
I own it and like it. The ONLY knock I have on it is that it creates new textures when you shrink them. I sync my library to an external HDD so I can render on the road when I'm working, but the product creates those textures and stores them somewhere else (I imagine some temp directory), so when you load it up elsewhere the scene is missing all those new textures.
