How do I save an expression as a dial?

How do I save an expression as a dial? Actually it’s a hierarchical pose on the face that I want to create a dial for that would go under expressions. I have no idea how to do that. Any help would be much appreciated!

    1. Set the expression, and make sure that everything else is zeroed
    2. Right-click on the Parametrs pane and set it to Edit Mode (if it isn't)
    3. Right-click in the expressions group and select Add Property
    4. Enter name and label, adjust settings in the dialogue - at the very least you will probably want to set the minimum value to 0 instead fo -1
    5. Set the new property to 100%
    6. Right-click on the new property and select ERC Freeze.
    7. Check that the right things are listed under Sub-components, unchecck any that shouldn't be there, and click Accept
    8. Test your sldier - if it works you can use File>Save As>Support Assets>Morph Asset if you want it available on all instances of the figure, or just save a scene subset or character preset.

Thanks Richard, I will try that. I want to save it so I can use it on any character so I don’t want to save the face morph, just the expression. It’s on generic G8 and the one click setting looks good on all characters I tested.

@RichardHaseltine EVERYTHING ELSE? Does this mean that it should be a base Genesis 8 (or whatever) with NO morphs whatsoever?

@Mystarra That does sound like more fun, but how's it done?

Yes. You can remove other things if needed in the ERC Freeze dialogue (step 7) but it's easy to miss them there so starting with just the relevant sliders set is better.

    Thank you so much.

I'm trying to do this in 4.12, but the slider/dial disappears after I delete the character I used. Any hints/answers are much appreciated.

If you haven't saved a new property as an asset then yes, it will go with the figure.

@Richard_Haseltine Ooops! Thanks, that was the missing step.

Is it possible to do the other side?

Save a dialed Expression as clickable?

I wanna try to convert G8F Expressions to G8M, but the expressions are only as dials, the Pose Preset does always save the expressions dial, so it will not find that dial on G8M.

I know from some other expressions, who have expressions "folders" can load as expressions and the dials will stay on 0%, because its saved as Pose.

In this case does the pose set not have any clickable folders in my Lib.

    Thanks.

Could someone update this to Studio 4.15 and Gen 8.1?

From Step 5 on I am completely lost.

I have a question about step 7. Should restore figure be checked? What about restore figure rigging?

Edit: looks like the answer is yes. The expression gets exaggerated without these checked. If I'm missing something, please tell me.
