i'm currently using yahoo hosting, not sure if i want to continue with them for my new site

ulimited d/l and adfree pages important.

yahoo doesn't offer a forum package.  I'm partial to the old FaerieWylde site.it let users select a theme.

Thanks smiley

    Paid or free?

I've used 1and1 for years now and find them an excellent provider.

doesn't need to be  free.  is important to me to not have advertising on my pages.

    thanks smiley

  • I use Namecheap for hosting. Works good for my needs and is inexpensive.

like Fishtales said 1.1 is good. Ive used them for years.  But the last 5 years Ive been using Godaddy for domain and hosting . http://www.ivysdomain.com/  I get domain & unlimited storage & data with deluxe hosting package which includes FTP direct access,  SQL and C# Server, SLL and site certificates, a windows or Linux control panel , a c-panal for uploading Mobil apps, my plan also comes with website stats and builtin google webmasters control panel & SEO tools as well.  Godaddy is a little costly for $168 a year.   But for what I get and the reliability  for domain and deluxe hosting with unlimited storage and data transfer. I really could not find much better.   you can get economy options for a lot less money a month at godaddy & they have page builders side bar if you don't know how to build sites by scratch with ftp like with Dreamweaver or inDesign which is what I use..  but the economy options have limits on storage and data transfers if you go lesser than deluxe hosting. .  I use my site mostly so I can exchange huge , very large animation & media graphic data files with clients without lag or upload restrictions that cloud services gave me. plus if uo work with adult content  its much easier having your own site because cloud services have become so presinikity to Adult 3d content . they don't know the difference between 3d and real I guess.. . I also have a gallery I am setting up in jqury that I can post my art on . I already have the animation gallery done.   the best part of owning your own paid for pro site  is that no one is going tell you what you can or can not post for art. :)

Funny this is brought up now as I was thinking HostGator is getting a bit expensive for me.  Started out at like $7.99 a month now I'm paying about $17.00 for the same service.  I'm in California USA so not sure what anyone can suggest.  My old outdated website I think needs an update but perhaps a new host too!

Went to the USA version and chose Web Hosting.... https://www.ionos.com/hosting/web-hosting ; Seems very well priced.  :-)

I've been using HostingCheck.com since 1999 when they were called NoMonthlyFees.com.  No complaints!  Recently upgraded to SSL certs and everything.  I bought the lifetime hosting package a while back and only pay $35 a year for the domain renewal now. SWEET!

They don't have to be US based anymore. Freeola.com is UK based and since they offered me the best domain name price & I got simple template based web hosting from them for free for buying the domain name from them I need only buy the SSL certificate. I wouldn't bother with the SSL certificate if it weren't a requirement for selling apps on GooglePlay / Apple App Store (that is if you have a web site at all for your apps as it's not strictly required). The cost is $30 USD for the domain name & $30 for the SSL certificate & it's recurring yearly.

If you don't need your own domain name go for wix.com it's free & many templates to use.

I love 1 & 1. I manage a not for profit website for our local spiritual community. I use their webhosting and it makes my job very easy. I use the wordpress hosted service and love how easy it is. In fact I also manage another site for a local one day event and I am hoping to switch to them for that too. And since I am  in Canada I love the fact they have a Canadian site setup

Not sure exactly what you mean, but most hosts have one-click installation of forums and other software.

I used WIX to build the Salon's website but mine, old as it is, was built using WebPlus by Serif and the program still works fine.  I just need a new web hosting site that's not as expensive as HostGator to park move it to and park it..... Just checked with WIX they do host with various payment options....... lowest is $9.00 a month US dollars.

freeola is free hosting if you buy your domain with them and that depends on the it's a .com or whatnot domain for that price & then another $30 for an SSL certificate if you need which you probably don't. So saying you have average cost domain name it'd be about $30 or let's say $36 to make the math easy or about $3 a month.

There is also a place called zoho.com that is 100% free I forgot about but again you must used their templates. I even hosted my domain there for a couple years that I buy at freeola.com and never paid a dime even though I didn't buy any other services from them.
