Titan X Pascal 12GB and other GPUs on Ebay

With the prices of the new NVIDIA 1080ti's back up to $1200, I noticed that used Titan X Pascals (12GB) are going for $550-750, even with water cooling incuded.   The used 1080 Ti's (11GB) are going for about the same price range.   When I looked a couple of weeks ago, they were both going for several hundred dollars more.  Titan X Maxwells (12 GB) have gone up from as low as $320 to current $450-800.  Not long ago the used Titan X Pascals were going for 2-3 times the price of a used Maxwell.  1070 ti's (8 gb) are going for $270 on up, and that price is expected to fall as folks sell off their cryptomining parts.  Be cautious.   In some cases the 1070 ti is really a regular 1070.

Anyway, an alternative to getting a GTX 2080 for those who want to wait, spend less on a high-VRam card, or who have older software versions that need an older GPU for things like OpenGL preview to work (like older versions of VUE).

I am amused by the person trying to sell a Titan X Pascal box for $50 + $8 shipping.   The box is in really good shape, I guess.

I personally wouldn't buy a GPU used unless I knew the person and what they had been doing with it. Just like anything else, extended hard use degrades the life of any electronics, especially if overclocked.

Always a concern, but I have have had very good luck over the last few years, and some of the cards I bought still had some warranty time left.  I've got 10 used cards in service (some in systems built for friends), and so far, so good.

Like the stock brokers always say "individual results may vary".  : )
