DIM uninstalled everything and then re-installed it

This morning I went into DIM to download and install my recent purchases I got to spend an hour watching DIM 64 bit uninstall everything including DAZ and then re-install the program and everything I have purchased since the beginning.  Does anyone have any idea why it did this?  I am pretty new to Daz but my friend that got me into Daz said his DIM is working ok.  I couldn't make it stop and am quite perplexed as to what happened.  Thank goodness I have decent internet speed.  TYIA

  • Are you sure it didn't open in the installed tab, so when you selected things and clicked Process Queue it uninstalled?

  • I am sure that I was not on the installed tab thank you.

Mine seemed to "forget" anything was installed.  I now have 300gb of things taking up space, but the installer only knows the 11 products I did reinstall, and wants to install over 2900 of them again.  The metadata's a mess on the redetected stuff in the program itself but it's probably all there.

I've had trouble with this program many times, even after installing to a new OS, unless I let it use the defaults and put everything on the OS drive.  Maybe an NTFS junction so it thinks it's still on C:, I'll have to try that next.

Are you using the standard location for the manifest files? Are they still in their folder?

No, D:/Program Files (x86)/DAZ 3D/DAZ3DIM1 which has the 11 it knows.  I found another in Program Files, but it's the same.  Didn't manually delete anything.

I'd tried to get everyting on D: when I last reinstalled, and it was working.  I did see the Library defined was a new folder name one, so I added the path to the old one with all the files, I'm not sure if the manifest files for those exist.

  • That's the application folder - it shouldn't be used for user data, such as the manifests - even though it's on a different fdrive Windows will, I think, protect it from being written to without elevated privileges.
