Monday minus the Cyber or "Who are these people and what have they done with DAZ's marketing team?"

After the Black Friday sale was such a snoozer, I had suspected that DAZ would come out roaring with an insane Cyber Monday ad.  But it looks like I was wrong.  I mean, the deals that are here are okay, but it's really just a monday.  I'm beginning to wonder if the PC+ sale broke some people and the whole thing is being runn by an AI with a generic ad template.

  • you'd think there would be a lot more products offered but it's only one new product and two older buy together at a discount

..the Black Friday dsale was fine as everyting (except new releases) was 50% off.  This sale is pretty much only good on new releases or if you are into animation.  if not, not oh well.

Almost, though there are some good resource items in that sale which almost any DAZ user will find helpful and ANY new release will triger the 60% discount.  As I just pointed out in another thread, if you put a cheap new release item in your cat, like one of the PC+ pose sets, one of the biggies is that FaceGen Artis Pro discounts down to just 5 bucks more than the featured new release of Headshop.

...I just like a good old fashioned sale that doesn't require a qualifying purchase or other gimmicks to unlock a discount.  MM used to be like that. The recent Black Friday sale harkened back to it.

...but then, I'm a bit "old school".

  • I was highly disappointed in the sale as well.  I was breathing a sigh of relief when the gift certificates went on sale before Black Friday so I bought mine and was all ready... then like you said, a real snoozer.  50% off?  The only way I buy something less than 60-70% off is if I’m working on a picture and I have to get a resource.  Needless to say,  no sales from me.

Ive actually sent a letter complaining about their sales, specifically what they have done with their new model release bundle deals.  You used to get progressive discounts when you bought more “new” stuff.  Now you get rewarded by getting to pick loads of outdated and obsolete models.  No offense to the creators, but who wants a model that’s 10 years old... I guess if you’ve invested in iray converters and pose fixers and clothing updaters it’s not too bad, but who is really getting excited over the same offerings again and again.

I really hope they go back to what they were doing.  And I hope they step up the clothing and character quality of these new releases as well.  Come on Daz, get back on your game!!!!!

I agree I am very disappointed with this cyber Monday. SIGH!!

70% off gofigure products is a great discount . But to get the 70% off, you need to buy a new release. Which would be fine accept there appears to only be 2 new releases offered in the sales banner that triggers the discounts. Sooooo Seeming headshop is something i do not require or need (EVER) that it is just puzzling to me to offer just 2 new releases that are so specialized with out other offers for those who have no interest in the only 2 new releases offered.  Really only 2 new releases?

So no sale.from me today . I would have bought 10 items from gofigurer other wise today I had wishlisted.   But what a ridiculous notion  to offer only 2 products.   Good luck with that!  I hope you daz guys plan a flash sale to make up the loss from the lack of enthusiasm from this cybre Mondays sale

yeah ... i never bought Headshop 1-10 ..and to have to buy 11 at $50 to get a discount on stuff I don't need is a no go.
This is surely not a cyber Monday I expected ...

THE GOOD: I will save a lot of cash here today by not spending any.

Any new release should work to get the 70% off gofigure products... including any new pc+ product.

YES ..I just noticed that ... i reread and it says NEW release, not today's new release... or whatever the phrase usually is ... so I put in low cost PC+ and an item from that resource list ... its cheap laugh

You won't buy anything if it isn't 60-70% off and yet you want DAZ to step up quality, LOL!

  • Since all purchases are digital, I was expecting Cyber Monday to be much much better than Black Friday. 70% or more. I had already set a budget to spend today on it. Oh well. :(

  • It's definitely a different marketing and sales strategy from what I've seen at Daz from the past few years. I am curious to see if the branding strategy changes as well. I am always interested when a brand I care about starts to mix things up.

Yea, I held off buying on Black Friday because I thought Cyber Monday was going to be a big deal.

  • It's not so bad... now my children get to eat until the end of the month! ;-)

I was a little surprised by the lack of interesting sale stuff for the vaunted Cyber-Monday... but I think the month of PC sales probably sucked everyone dry, anyway?  Plus, everyone states-side should be warm and happy and full of turkey, right?  No harm, no fowl!

  • Daz Cyber Monday?

    Hmmmm... Nope, not interested.

  • I wonder if there were recently posts and threads with people saying there were too many sales in a row and they wanted a break...

Yeah, as much as I like putting shiny new things in my wishlist, it's nice to get a break LOL

Yeah, this year's sales were not good at all. Last year they had great sale plus free stuff like every 4 hours. If this is a sign of things to come the Xmas sale will be a pass also.

I feel rather sorry for the Daz marketing crew. Regardless of what they come up with for a sale, there are people on the forums "loudly" complaining.

Today's sale is rather nice: 70% off the two featured PAs with any new release. That's practically unheard of! If you're into animation, it's a wonderful offer. And if you do animation, there may well be a few must-haves in the animation addons category. Even if you don't do animation, that category holds some real gems, iReal, that is. All four of The Philosopher's iReal products are listed. If you don't have them all, 60% off is great incentive to add one or more to your runtime. You don't need animation to use them for still images. And finally, 60% off resources is also very nice and there are over 1800 total products listed. (23 of those are on my wishlist. That's more than I can afford to buy in one go.)

It isn't the offer that's lackluster. It's our perception of the offer, coming just after 12 weeks of two major sales events… I was buying non-DO items  for $1.99 almost every single day for 5 weeks… No wonder 70% off makes me yawn! lol

  • I don't think this is 'loudly'... but I have four kids, so is a half a dozen people muttering in a quiet corner count as loudly? ;-)  Really, though, it seems like a narrowly-focused sale (animation) which was sort of surprising, and came across as a little bland... what, no hoops to jump through, items to collect, or combinations to sort through?  So often sales are rather like the game apps my kids play... urging collecting, calculating, and spending to achieve greated heights of whateverness.  I'm not crushed, or even complaining - although I was hoping maybe a little pre-Christmas shopping would happen - but I'm curious as to whether this is what others would consider representative of 'Cyber-Monday' style offerings, which I am not always around for.  Less complaint here, I think, and more generic commentary on the nature and flavour of sales at Daz :-)

  • In all honesty, I don't know what DAZ could have done to top a sale that had the whole store 50%.  That's a hard act to follow.

  • Thank you L'Adair I missed what the sale said went back and spent thirty dollars on Syckle Yield and Riversoft products Thank You DAZ !

@Misselthwaite, My comment was aimed at the forums in general, (no one person or thread.) It feels like every sale a thread pops up complaining about one aspect or another. There are always people who think they have a better idea for a great sale. When the sale is simple, a thread pops up complaining how boring it is; when it's complicated, a thread pops up complaining about jumping through hoops. And so on, and so forth.

It all comes down to that old adage about pleasing people. In the end, even Daz cannot please all the people all of the time!

@marchartam, You're welcome. Glad I could help… (help you spend your money. I've got a few friends on here that help me like that all the time. To the woe of my wallet!)

I felt the same way following my first March Madness. (I'd been using DS about six months.)  I predict a year from now, you'll find 50% off storewide to be a bit less… um… impressive…? (Though many of us look forward to those. Most of the time, a PA has to release a new product to achieve featured status, but there are stores from vendors who've passed on, and site-wide sales are the only time we can pick up their products on sale.)

  • Yeah any new release works fine...got a few items I really want...if I hadn't already blown the budget. iBL Master is really tempting me. Anyone getting a lot of use out of it?
  • 50% off the entire store is nice if you are putting together a specific picture and need a specific item.  But I sort of just watch the sales, and if its a good sale, I grab it up.  It's not unusual to be able to grab some nice stuff for 60-70% off.  Now its probably less than that really.... with the get 50% off, then another 10% and then another.... but you get my point.  And it's not that it was a "bad" sale... but in my memory, last year they did something cooler.  I personally dont do animations... and maping peoples real face... somehow I dont think this product will be able to product the same quality as a model someone brushes up... I get it, you can do real people and celebrities and what not.  Just not my thing.

I'm sure in another day or two they will roll out something I'm more excited about.

  • again I still managed to buy something today ......
