Hello,
I bought the kids 4, along with Duke Hair (https://www.daz3d.com/duke-hair) and Cheyenne Clothes (https://www.daz3d.com/cheyenne-boy-for-kids-4) but as you can see:
1. Dragging and dropping the hair does not work, and,
2. The clothes are not fit
Can anyone suggest assisting tips?

Well I admit I use Poser and not DS, but the clothing item is conforming clothing, so I would click on it to add it to the scene and then click to conform it to the figure. I think the equivalkent in DS is "Fit to"
Hair is a prop piece. Select the human figure, then click on the hairpiece in your run time, and it should load as a prop parented to the head.
If you have the human figure selected, and then click on the clothing pieces in the runtime, it might do the "fit to" automatically (some clothes of that era did, I don't remember if these did) and will follow the figure if posed, but won't be parented to the figure the way modern Daz clothes are. otherwise, select clothing items one at time after loading, find "fit to" option in the parameters tab (as Chohole mentioned), and select kids 4 option.
Actually... I found the hair floating twice as high as the kid but in the heirarchy window its a children of the Kids 4 figure...
So you'd recommend poser 4 over daz3d? I have bought dazToMaya but the figures lose their posing, their realitisticness (of textures), and more...
I am trying to do simple renders, with a macbook pro 2012 and daz is just giving me headache.
No, I said I use Poser, not that I would recommend it. I actually only use poser as a plug-in for Bryce and have an older poser version installed.
Sounds like you selected the wrong hair prop, if i remember correctly Duke comes with one for the grownups and one for the kids. But there should be a fix: select the hair, look under parameters for fit morphs; should be one for kids 4.Start dragging that dial to the right, and the hair will shrink and slide downwards towards the kids head.
I also think the Cheyenne clothing conforms to the upper body, for the lower body you need to use the included "dynamic" morps to drape it,
Loaded K4 via Content Tab/ Morph Loader, added the MB4 Clothes .cr2 via Content Tab with K4 selected.
Duke Hair is parented to the head when loaded with K4 selected, it has morphs for Fit K4 male/ female.
As far as I remember there's an auto-magnetize option in Daz for Generation 4 clothing used with Generation 4 which is set by default.
No... The kids 4 clothes + hair are faulty... is there any child models recommednations for gensis 8? I also want to fit clothes to the child model (baiscally a doctor's appreal)
The Kids stuff does work it just works slightly differently to the newer Genesis generations items do.
If you want to use G8 and need kids try over at Rendo they have a few artists that do kids, Angel_wings SFDesigns and Luna3d, and Sixus1 has a baby.
You can get kids the can pass for 4 - 5 years old and on up just by using the DAZ Originals products that morph the head, body, and expressions. Do a search on child vs adult proportions for artists on the internet to guide you on how to adjust the morphs in those products.
The old Millenium baby is still the one which looks more natural proportioned to me than the newer ones. The sixus1 baby has a face which looks much too old. Downright creepy.
It depends how realistic you want it. There is no IRay in Poser and to get anything close to realism, you would need a newer (and expensive) version of Poser. I started with Poser, loved it, used it for years, but when IRay was released in DS, forced myself to learn it (still learning) and hope I haven’t forgotten how to use Poser altogether! If you plan to do artistic work with a lot of postwork, Poser, even early versions, can be fine, but if you want anything close to realism, you really need IRay...
Redz made a very pretty morph for that baby, however.
For a Genesis 8 child, have a look at Zev0's growing up sets - here's the male set https://www.daz3d.com/growing-up-for-genesis-8-male-s
Genesis content (Genesis, Genesis 2, 3, and 8) is all optimized for Daz studio; earlier content is optimized for Poser, which can make things a little confusing. For quick renders without a lot of headaches, Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 and their content will generally behave in a consistent way and will work with Iray rendering.
If you're willing to wait for a sale, you can get Poser at a decent price. Last winter I got whatever the new version was for about $36 with their Christmas sale + a birthday gift card.
As far as realism, Superfly(Poser's renderer) should be on par with Iray, the difference is the lack of hd morphs, plus the models are mostly Victoria 4 era quality.
The OP is talking kids, not infants, so the Sixus infant/toddler and these other infants/todlers that some don't like either aren't applicable to the OP's post anyway. The 'Growing Up' morph products, even though I've bought them for Genesis 3 & Genesis 8, do tend to make the models all look like the same child unfortunately. The DAZ Originals morph products, when you adjust them with the proportions as recommended for artists to make children, do all look like child versions of the adults back when they were children so that is preferable approach for me personally.
One issue with Superfly is that hardly any products come bundled with Superfly shaders, nor are there many products containing Superfly shader packs. When Iray was released the Daz Studio PAs very quickly embraced it and added Iray shaders, but for some reason that never happened with PA's making Poser products, many of whom still make products compatible with Poser 6 or 7.
I've used the Kids 4 figures quite a bit over the years. If you're interested in adding variety, I like Virtual Worlds' sets: Children of the World, Happy Kids, and Rascals. They require the Kids 4 Morphs++, but that means you can adjust the dial settings as you wish. The first two include skin textures. All on sale today.
None of the infant figures or figure morphs look anything other than something creepy to me.
Sixus baby is quite good only when combined with Angel Wings Amanda
Incidentally, I've found Kids 4 skins do not convert well to Iray, unlike many V4 or M4 skins (or even many earlier Millenium-3 skins) - they always come out looking like zombie children.
The Millenium baby should be about 15 years old by now..time flies when you are having fun... I think she grew up to be Teen Josie.
