Secret Underground Train proportions?
in The Commons
Has anybody bought the new Secret Underground Train and can tell me whether it's scaled to standard gauge (say, similiar to Jack Tomalin's trains)? This might be a particularly nerdy problem, but I've grown suspicious of train-related stuff for DS and Poser - some of the products out there simply didn't bother with realistic standards, which becomes glaringly obvious once you try to combine vehicles or tracks from different artists. Anybody who already tried to measure the rail gauge or use it with other train products would be my personal hero of the day.

If you are concerned with realism, look closely at the promo images of the train cars where the wheels meet the rails.
I plan on buying it. I'm concerned about the lack of a side window on the cab.
Slap a plane with reflection on the side! They are using high-tech to see ahead any, LoL.
Good point there, although I'm looking for interchangeability rather than die-hard realism.
It doesn't seem to have a door either.
I could imagine the locomotive as a neat background model though.
I don't own it but there seems to be something off with the tracks... Or the depth of the face of wheels to the flange. The track seems a bit thick... But the locomotive wheels seem to look right... So I'm guessing the wheel depth is good, but in the first image with the locomotive, the wheel's flange mesh is intersecting the thicker rail... Or the cars and locomotive have different tracking/gauge widths... Or the loco/cars scale got messed up somehow between the different promo renders.
Realistically, under a certain price, with trains you don't see a lot of attention to certain details... It's like the different between a $30 New Bright Christmas train set and a $800 LGB set... Certain details are just close approximations mean to convey the gist of the look. The current sale makes the model a good bargain for what you get.
Maybe the lack of side window is because it's meant to run underground and who needs to look at tunnel walls... Besides... Who needs another window for the zombies or C.H.U.D.s to break through... This is a secret underground base, it's a given something is gonna eat the engineer and the train will go hurtling through the tunnel to the dead end at the vat of explosive chemicals while the heroes/heroines battle the mutant whatevers while trying to escape.
Edited to add... That's a good point... The window on the cab is the window of the door... Or where a door should be...
Transporter tech or Robo-Train.
I suspect the interior has not been modelled at all, so adding windows and doors would have been an issue.
When I load the train or any of its components, they are not on top of the tracks. If I move the train parts to the tracks, the tracks are much smaller than the train. The tracks are inside the wheels.
I bought that product and it's missing files:

I used the train for this image:
It's been a while, but I don't recall having to do anything to make it fit the tracks.
Are they not installed at all, or is a script complaining it can't find them? Those paths look valid, and my copy has everything you mention. Re-install?
I Don't know about the stand alone version, but the the bundle includes the track in the base, not the train.
