Distribution rules for Daz Uber shaders (Iray)

Hi.
I've just finished building a simple cage, and I'm planning to use a metal shader from the DAZ Uber shaders presets.
If I release the cage as a freebie, would I have to make my own shader/material for it, or would it be okay to givei it away with that shader applied (and saved as a preset)?

The presets are just settings for the shader base, so you would need to make a preset but using the Base shader is fine.
Its also possible that the presets that come with DS are MS as well, you would need to send in a ticket asking if it was permissable to use them in a freebie.
I also asked that question a while ago and it is fine to use those. in commercial projects :)
well I daresay they will only work in DAZ studio with iray anyway, I know will not work in DS4.7, I know you get some odd things happening loading later version scenes in that from experience.
Thank you all for replying.
@-Niko- I had a feeling someone would've asked before.
I did add a plain, basic colour to the model in Hexagon.
I suppose I could always try to make a metallic-ish texture of my own. I don't have Photoshop, so it's not going to be a "believable" metal colour. It would (probably) be down to the user to use their preferred shader(s)/MATs/Textures if they wanted to get the best out of the model.
Thanks again ^^
Normal procedure for about every second freebie I find somewhere on the net (and that's not a "now free" commercial product here in the DAZ shop) is to check the textures/shaders and replace them when needed. So releasing the freebie with only a basic colour shouldn't do any harm... In fact it might even allow some shader selling PAs to earn a bit more money ^^
I think DAZ should strongly consider making all the DAZ Original shaders merchant resources to make it easier for people to become PAs. There's enough to learn in terms of modeling and rigging and packaging, so why must PAs also have to become experts at creating shaders when DAZ has so many?
But currently the DAZ-O shaders are NOT labeled as merchant resources, and although it should be fine to use any presets which do nothing but set values on the Uber Shader itself, you should beware, be very aware of each one you use, because if the preset loads a different shader or puts any bitmaps in any of the Uber Shader's channels, then it probably is not one you can distribute without permission.
To be safe and sure, I suggest making a list of all the shaders you use and putting in a support ticket with the list to ask which ones may be distributed.
OTOH, maikdecker's advice for freebies sounds good, to use the Uber Shader and set up its values simply, with the expectation that people who download your item are going to replace the shaders anyway.
You seem to be getting Shaders and Shader presets confused.
Possibly. I'm assuming a shader is the thing that does the shading, like the Iray Uber Shader or AoA_Subsurface or whatever. I'm assuming a shader preset is an icon you double-click on in DAZ's user interface to apply a shader or shader settings--whichever the preset was designed to do. So double-clicking on a preset might simply change settings in the current shader, or it might apply an entirely different shader. That's why I feel it's dangerous to assume all presets are OK to use on products you'll distribute, because a preset might apply a new shader which isn't merchant resource, or the bitmaps it plugs into the uber shader might not be merchant resources.
Where have I gone wrong?
