Is a dforce hybrid possible

Hi,

Can I combine a conforming top with a dforce skirt as 1 item and have it simulate in dforce.

Hope this makes sense.

Yes, you can :D dForce is by material zone, so the areas you want conforming only, make their own material zone. All dForce clothes at Daz are also conforming to start with. Other places not always though.

Edit: This is highly simplified. I don't do clothes, but I know this is a thing :D

The conforming top won't do anything in dForce unless you add adForce modifier.

However, I'm not sure what is meant by "combining . . . as 1 item"

Like a long dress with a conformed top and a flowy skirt bottom. It's one piece of clothing but only part of it is dForced.

Yes. If it's one article of clothing, add a d-force modifier via the simulation tab and for each material you do not want to be dynamic, set Dynamic Strength to zero (in the surfaces tab, pick the surface and change the setting).  If the top is not a seperate material, you have two choices.  You can either use the geometry tools to select the polys for the top and define a new surface for them OR you can add a weight map and paint the top blue (i.e. not dynamic) by dragging the weight brush over them while holding ALT.

The process of weight painting is a bit hard to describe, I tried doing that in the thread below in some detail but it was on older hair products, not clothing. Same process though. Might be of some help to you.
