[SOLVED] Need Help in Deleting Parent Objects?

edited November 2018 in The Commons

so i was working on my latest project when i noticed something suspicious about my scene files (.duf).
i noticed that even though i'm working on the same scene (only with different poses) the scene files that i've been saving are progressively growing in terms of file size.
numerically speaking, a file originally about only 3.03 MB grew into more than 4 MB in size.

so i investigated, and i noticed that there were ITEMS in the Change Parent menu that seems to be non-deletable.
i say non-deletable because even when you delete the scene where they originally belong, those ITEMS still remain on the current scene.
i don't know where those ITEMS came from, and i can only see them through the Change Parent menu.
my problem is that i usually merge scenes in order to keep track of the point-to-point movement of my characters or objects.
and since the ITEMS are non-deletable, they only replicate themselves whenever they get merged to scenes with the same ITEMS.

looking at the Change Parent menu, the ITEMS icon look like some sort of I-beam (kindly refer to the attachment).
and the file names are Belly, Belly Right, and Belly Left.
so there are 3 original ITEMS.
what kind of objects are they, anyway?

here's an example of what happened in my case.
in this scene, i didn't notice that the ITEMS already grew very large in number, as high as 400 plus.
and in this case, the scene which was originally 3.03 MB grew into 3.71 MB, and that's about 700 KB which is already quite a large file.

and so i need help in deleting those I-beam ITEMS in order to minimize the sizes of my scenes.
is there anyone here who already encountered such problem, and who knows how to delete those objects?

  • I think those are Rigid Follow Nodes, not sure why they would multiply unless you are repeatedly loading some wearables set that uses them.

thanks, i'll try to research about those Rigid Follow Nodes.

for now i can't tell which content actually created those ITEMS.
but i already tried all of my G3F wearables, and non of them are producing the ITEMS.

unfortunately, i unintentionally saved them with some of my characters.
so whenever i load those characters to a scene, the I-Beam ITEMS are also loaded.
and the problem is that, even if i delete the objects which originally goes with those ITEMS, the ITEMS are not deleted and can still be seen through the Change Parent menu.

    example 1:
Scene 1 (scene with the I-Beam ITEMS)
Scene 2 (scene with NO I-Beam ITEMS)
    Scene 1 merged with Scene 2 = Scene 1 + Scene 2 + I-Beam ITEMS
delete all objects that are originally from Scene 1 and save (.duf) scene = Scene 2 + I-Beam ITEMS

    example 2:
Scene 1 (scene with the I-Beam ITEMS)
    Scene 1 merged with Scene 1 = (Scene 1 x2) + (I-Beam ITEMS x2)
delete all objects from (1) Scene 1 and save (.duf) scene = Scene 1 + (I-Beam ITEMS x2)

they multiplied in number because like i said, i usually merge scenes in order to keep track of the movement of my characters and objects for my story.
so everytime i do the merge and save the scene, the I-Beam ITEMS add up.

to give you an idea, a set (Belly, Belly Right, Belly Left) approximately measures 4 KB.
and that's already a big file for something just like that (as compared to environments or props which can measure only 16 KB).
so that creates the problem when merging scenes.

for now i'm avoiding doing the merge.
but it will be more helpful if i'd be able to delete those pesky ITEMS permanently.
do you have an idea if those nodes can be deleted?

    update.
you are right, they are Rigid Follow Nodes.
and those in my files are not visible to me because they were intentionally hidden.
luckily i saw a tutorial about creating Rigid Follow Nodes.
so i learned that they can be seen and deleted using the Scene Pane.
again, thanks a lot for the tip.
