Missing Files Error Help Please

So I went to work on a project and all of as sudden I'm getting missing files all over the place. Basic files like the Essentials of all the generations. Other things seem to work fine or are only missing partial files. And, if I right click on the item that says its missing files, it takes me directly to the files. Which are clearly not missing. It keeps prompting me to download them with connect, but I don't use connect. Ever. And Dim seems to think all of the files are there so I can't even reload them.
Edited to add that all of my content is on my E Drive.

You could re-install them all - right click on the list on the Install tab and select Re-Install Package(s) > All Selected
Do you mean with DIM? I don't know which ones are missing and which ones aren't- Dim seems to think they are all still installed (and I have over 7000 items.....) I will if that's what I have to do but I'm hoping there is a better (faster- the last time I had to reinstall it took days. I have a webinar to give on Sunday and I need this to work right by then)
So, i've been digging around my files and it looks like my entire Data file is missing. As in, empty. (for the record, I don't ever touch this file except to click on the combine files button when adding 3rd party content.) Any ideas on getting this one back? I'm trying the update metadata at the moment but if that doesn't work, I am considering rolling things back a day to see if that will work. I have hundreds (literally hundreds, of 3rd party content that are part of my promo work, so I don't even know how much of that I can recreate, I doubt that I can access those files again as they are rolled over constantly to make room for new stuff.
Yes, with DIM. Several days is a long time, but of course 7000 files are a lot. Did you use the option I mentioned when you re-installed (batch re-install), and were the files already downloaded?
I haven't started redownloading them yet, I see where to do it and will go that route if I have to. I may go ahead and wait til I get home and see if I can just copy the data folder over from the External Drive I have on my PC. It has pretty much the same stuff on it as I use both of them. That may solve my problem except for stuff that's very very recent.
Are you on Windows? It's fairly easy to write some code that checks if all files are installed, but it requires that you have the manifest files (I assume you do though since DIM shows the files as installed).
Yes I am. I am pretty sure the issue is with the data file. Its only got two items in it, which is clearly not correct. I realized going back to the last restore point won't work as it won't effect the E drive only the C drive. I'm going to copy the data file on the pc to the the external I use for the laptop, and hopefully that will take care of 95% of the problem. In the meantime, I am re downloading the items I need for the promo I need to have done today. If that doesn't work, I am totally willing to try anything else lol.
