Extremely Aggravated @ DAZ3D/DS Studio

While I understand the whole property rights thing and having an edge in the Market. I feel completely useless when it comes to this whole DAZ3D Studio business. Back when it was DS Studio 3 it was a good piece of (Free) Software that was a total rip off of Poser. The software itself was easy to install, and you could easily add extenal runtimes into it, just as easily as you could into Poser. I never did like the interface at all, but I thought I cold learn. Still learning. But my whole issue with the program is that it's harder than hell to even work with content within the program...and I mean both installing it and opening it in the program.
DAZ should allow for manual installation of content where you could easily find it, and not just rely on DIM, which while you can eventually figure it out, isn't obviously the only way that you could install content into Studio (unless I am wrong). But the whole thing about the DS library is that you can't find a damn thing in it!

This is getting to be too much for my 52 year old brain to handle.

In short, DS Studio came by way of making it easier and a free alternative to Poser. So why not just make content that is Poser compatible too? After all, except for the layout, both programs do the same exact thing!

You can install content manually in DS4 in any directory you like, as long as it's registered as a content directory in DS preferences. And you can use the content library exactly in the same way as for DS3 if you use the "content library" tab and not the categories or smart content.

As for making recent content Poser compatible, that won't happen for G3 or G8 since Poser doesn't support the tech needed for that.

                     Thank you!

  • Here's my two cents, I'm 53 and I'm still learning. Have you tried the 4.11 beta yet? Ut seems to render faster than 4.10. If you are not using Daz Install Manager, you can manually download and install just as Leana says. I had to do that for the reasons you did as I wouldn't find my content where I thougt it should be after using Install Manager. Once I told the content where to go I was able to find where everything was going even when I used Install Manager.
