Here and gone again

I'm here, briefly. I'm using a free wifi connection right now. It's not very reliable. I will get my cable service operating again within a week.

I'm ready to embark on a new adventure. My brother moved to a nursing home, and gave me one of his XBox One devices. It's a long story. I probably have all the stuff that goes with it. I need to download a manual and see what I can do.

I'm terrible at most games. Back around 1998 I was able to win almost every Mortal Kombat tournament I played. Maybe my luck will be good on the XBox One version?

I love video games.  They are a great escape from reality lol.  I prefer to play single player RPG's on my pc but I've probably played on almost every console from the original Nintendo and Sega up to about playstation 2 at which point I switched to the pc.  I remember the excitement of playing mario brothers for the first time IN MY OWN HOUSE lol.  No more having to go to the arcade.  I still love the older games but also really appreciate the scope of the worlds available now.

I must admit I may have spent a few too many hours in games like Skyrim,  but hey,  being the dovahkiin has its responsibilities.

I have a long, frustrating history with games. I've been totally lost in most any game, even when I bought the hint books. I was able to win Doom because I had the "God Mode," I probably won Duke Nuke'em and Wolfenstein for the same reason. Remember, I played those games in the late 1990s.

I won ever game of Mortal Kombat just because I went totally crazy. Each time I faced an opponent, I fell to the ground and played dead. When my opponent bent down to see me, I jumped up fast and dealt the enemy a killing blow!

Nothing wrong with God mode....Just sayin lol.  It really is just a ton of playing, dying, playing dying.  That's half the fun lol.

  • I'm currently screaming my way through Assassin's Creed Odyssey on the Xbox One. Beautiful game, but riddled with bugs and glitches. And it's ridiculously difficult for me. Totally unnecessary difficulty, even on Each Mode. I did just recently finish Assassin's Creed Origins and it was just a wonderful game all around. One thing's for sure, the art crew on those Assassin's games really do terrific work.
  • Only thing AC Odyssey it I've found really difficult was the Kaledonian Boar.  I had to give up on that - I'll come back to it later.  But I'm not that far in yet.

I'm terrible at any game that requires a lot of strategy. Many years ago, I failed at Leisure Suit Larry, despite a clue book. I had a Star Wars (X-Wing?!) game back in the 1980s. I never got anywhere, I recall a game called The Myst. It might have been a version for the Atari ST?! I got nowhere,

I used to be average (if that) at Mortal Kombat

Then the X-band came out for the super nintendo and I was playing MK2 from people all over the state. It got to the point I would woop anyone who challenged me with pretty much any character they chose for me :O

That was a pretty interesting experience since it was before computers and online games were a thing.

I've been fiddling about with the XBox one again today. I'm totally lost. It appears to take a long time to turn on. Nothing wants to work without Internet acess.

I just communicated with the cable guy now....My service should be working shortly, I needed to uplug the devices and start them again...
