The Underdocks Bundle missing files?

Just purchased this gorgeous bundle but am having trouble with it. First I cannot locate the Daz format files or icons to load the product. Should be in Environments/architecture but there isn't a folder. I did a search in daz and found the scene files but but when I click on any of them I get a files not found error with list like this one..

I have installed with DIM and also manually. Thanks for any help.

  • If you right-click on the product in the Installed tab of DIM and select Show Installed files, are the Data folder entries listed? And if they are, does clicking on the link take you to them?

    for some reason right clicking in DIM in the installed tab uninstalled the product. I am reinstalling now and will try again.

    That looks like the bonus scene preset. The individual parts need to be installed, too.

    Can you load the individual parts from The Vaults? The data/auto_adapted/... files are usually created by Daz Studio when loading Poser .obj files. It should recreate them if they're missing. I don't have this set, but it's a pretty standard process.

    DS used to do this, but the last few versions have embeded assets that haven't been explicitly saved as assets in the scene file so you can't recinstruct the missing files that way. You could load the Poser versions, apply DS materials, and save as a scene - and open a suport ticket please, the File Lists in the read me do confirm that there are no data files.

    Well, it still does it that way with my version (4.10.0.123). I don't know what it's supposed to do, but I go with what I see. If this product has the "older" structure, can no one use it anymore? If Studio could not load older products, there would have been a riot in the forums.

    Let's take another example, Tadel Riad, from the same vendor, with a similar asset structure. It has a Poser core installer, with Daz Studio files (.duf) in parallel with the Poser files (.pp2). There is no native Studio format data, either auto_adapted or explicitly included, just .obj files. The Studio files make references to data/auto_adated files, but none are included. I went to my data/auto_adapted folder and deleted any files related to Tadel Riad (in folders odcy*/*.*) from any previous loads. I then load the main !Courtyard scene properly with no warnings or errors, and all those auto_adapted files are created again.

    I copied a little of the progress window that shows the .obj's being loaded and assets written.

    If I clear the scene and load it again (the original file, not a saved scene), there is no importing of .obj's, it just loads real quick, presumably from the new auto_adapted files.

    If I save a new scene file, it is virtually the same as the original, with (a lot of) minor differences due to shader channel additions since the original was made. I do not see any large arrays of embedded geometry data, and it still makes references to the same auto_adapted files as the original scene file, the same auto_adapted_files that were just re-generated.

    So, I don't understand your assertion that "DS used to do this"...

    Maybe newer DS native products save the data as you say, but they are starting out that way. There are plenty of DS-compatible products with Poser-formatted geometry data that load without any problems.

    Northof45, I did submit a ticket but I also found the individual objects and loaded them one by one. I didn't understand what you meant until reading your last post. Everything loaded at position zero but I just kept going. After that I was able to load the complete scene files with only 3 data error lines. After the scene files loaded I re-loaded the scenes that had the errors and the errors were gone. Thank you!

  • Hmm, well that is surprising - I was sure that the non-writing of the Auto_stuff had been going on for a while.

    With a quick test, it is embedding primitives but not Poser content, I didn't test imported OBJ files.
