Content folder HDD or SSD?

I have 1 TB SDD and no HDD, but with games, movies, programs etc, I already lack on space and my content folder is 300gb. Is it noticeably slower if I put it on HDD and keeping only the scenes on my SSD? I read some threads but all of them are too old and not sure if something is changed with the newer versions. (Planing to use 4.11 beta atually)

Honestly, I would get an 4tb or higher external drive and keep all your daz content on that if you can.  If you are already running out of space, its not going to get better lol.

I'm going to second what IceDragonArt said, I have everything for Studio (connect library, regular library, cms database, program files, the whole shebang) installed on a separate HDD.  I've never had it installed on an SSD, so I can't comment as to how it compares, but I don't have any complaints.  An option if you are looking for performance over a regular HDD is to look at one of the Solid State Hybrid Drives, which are standard platter drives with a small SSD built in that keeps the most commonly accessed files to help speed things up a bit.

    Why external?

You know that the more you fill a ssd the shorter the life span of said ssd. I would move over all data and stuff you dont need all the time over to a nice big hard drive with a 7200rpm speed. SSD's are great for OS and programs but hard drives last longer are cheaper and hold more they are just slower.

Because it's easier to deal with / upgrade, and fast enough to not be in the way of your workflow. You're going to spend more time creating your scene and rendering than you are waiting for content to load. Besides, slow loading will almost always be due to limited RAM than from reading from the drive.

If you go internal, I recommend the 6TB WD Black Drives - you can get them for a good price in another month during the Black Friday sale. They're more expensive than the WD Blue/Red drives, but the speed increase is worth it IMO.

I do external because I use it on my laptop and it travels well.  I also can move between my laptop and pc and not have to worry about transferring files
