Thought it was NyanCat (or how it was spelled) cause Vikike's store is still here

MAYBE the artist and catalog will be back with another name. Maybe someone took issue with using the "Nyan Cat" name, since it is rather well known, perhaps copyrighted or trademarked or something. Check Wikipedia, if you haven't heard of it. There have been lawsuits about inappropriate use of the meme.

  • My mistake - the window shaders weren't showing up in my wishlist because I bought them 2 weeks ago.

I try to keep an off-site wishlist that lets me run numbers on % off needed for me to go for buying things.  I also try to list the artist for them, but it's an extra step that's sometimes skipped.

The Fancy Japanes Bath also disappeared a while ago but is now back again, has happened with other products too, so maybe it's just temporary problems so that some of these products may be back again.

The bath is showing Illumination as the PA. Perhaps the product was in collaboration with "Nyan Cat" and appropriate steps were taken to give the one PA full ownership. (I know from insider information with a former, PA, when a store closes, products in collaboration with other PAs still come down.)

I have a copy of the product page for the bath from before it temporarily disappeared, it only says "Illumination" as artist. So it's probably not that.

Nyan Cat will probably show up somewhere else, makes no sense to create a new product and then just disappear completely. Or maybe there have been copyright problems with the artist name?

Yep, all 6 products by Nyan cat are gone away from daz3d.

That's a real bummer - I had several of their items wishlisted. I didn't buy them right away because I didn't need them immediately and wanted to wait for a good discount. I'm really bummed they're gone. :(

Their environments had some really nice realism details and intentional imperfections that made them look a bit more realistic than many of the "perfect" 3D environments that get released. I'm really sad I couldn't get their stuff. But at the same time, I don't know the reason behind their store being pulled. Maybe it's for the best that I didn't get their products. I guess we'll never know.

    • As I recall, Oso3D, (aka Timmons. Will,) changed his PA name shortly after his first product was released. So it seems like it wouldn't be a big deal to change the PA name if there turned out to be copyright/brand issues.
    • If there was a copyright issue with the set, why would the entire store disappear? Simlar issues have occurred with a PA I won't name, and his/her store wasn't affected, just the products were pulled, and in one case, making a texture change to a specific prop within the environment was sufficient for the set to be reinstated. So that makes it unlikely the store was pulled because the one product had issues.
    • Most of us recall the short-lived PA status of HW3D, with the Hivewire animals available on Daz for about two weeks or so. I do not want to get into that debate per se, but perhaps Nyan Cat said something publicly that violated the PA agreement.
    • It is always a possiblitly that the artist asked to terminate their presence here, which could be for any number of reasons, either business or personal.

Regardless of why the store is gone, it saddens me. I loved that set. It was so well done, I wishlisted it, even though I had absolutely no reason to buy it. I had hoped to pick it up at some point in the future.

Glad I bought it as soon as I saw it. Beautiful set, easy kitbashing. Things I really want, I don't wait for sales any longer, not since so many items disappeared from my wishlist one day without any warning.

  • I think Daz has been purging PAs who haven't submitted in a while, which is really sucky... Redspark is gone, and I still wanted some of his stuff. I love vikike and hope they will make more- the small prop scenes were always fabulous. I didnt see the glowing window textures shaders but wish I had.... and nyan cat gone too? ug.

vikike176 is still here and hasn't lost any products, so you can still get the glowing window shaders. What was especially irking about Nyan cat was that their store was pulled the day they released a new product, so it wasn't due to inactivity.

  • annoyed that j.cade's dress slip thing is gone too... I had that thing on my wishlist. I wish i could support way more artists. Going through some massive life changes lately though and had to cut out the 3d spending for a while. I can't even finish 3d projects I was working on because hubby, who has started a new job, needs to use my newish computer (that i used for rendering) for his work, which actually pays the bills. And I'm doing transcription work through my phone and keyboard or the older desktop, depending on things. Desktop can do art, albeit a lot more slowly. Not complaining- I'm so very, very thankful we had a computer that could handle hubby's new online job right when we needed it... Desktop does heavy duty in our house with being used for my work and homschooling and such!  (which btw, I love homeschooling, regardless of the amount of work involved, my son who HATED school is now excited about learning.... he hated writing but now he story-journals on the computer and is learning to type better too... ) The extra computer was a real blessing to get.  how'd i get on that topic again? oh yeah, right. I'm sad when things disappear from the store  that are or definitely WOULD be in my wishlist  >_<;  And  i hope Nyan Cat's stuff comes back, it was really gorgeous stuff. And I see that I missed a ton of vikiki's stuff, which just added several more to my wishlist. I need more coffee. thank goodness for instant espresso.

It's a thing now. One of the items I was trying to link to- from the gallery is gone.

I think there's a new lesson here. If you want something really bad, best to get it.

Waiting for years for 82% off may not work anymore sad.

I always thought if I ever do a sailing ship adventure (and I did buy a few large old ships) that the Captain's Cabin would be used for an interior shot.

    -------------

There's a few vendors that do not release that often. For those, might not be worth waiting for them to go down to a large discount.

This has been a rough year and I have no idea what stuff is gone forever....or at least not easily accessible.

I haven't been Able to buy that captain's room, and now that I finally would be, and planned to get it, it disapears... hopefully it will eventually be found elsewhere, or someone else will come out with one as nice as that one

Bigger question: If Daz (or the vendor) removes an item from the store, what happens to my (saved) library version of the item?

So, the vedor is free to "remove" the item from the store, but Daz has to KEEP A VERSION of the item in THEIR system so I can redownload it whenever I need to?

Or is there a possibility that an item I purchased can be removed from my account - should I choose to reinstall my library from scratch

My understanding is once you buy a product, it stays in your account for re-download for as long as Daz is still alive. Some time back durring the RDNA merge a product was accidentally put up for free Many people picked it up before it was pulled from the store and moved to rendo. It's still in my library to re-download.

I think if people have to be pursuaded to buy a product by cutting the price to almost nothing, they shouldn't be surprised when Daz elects to focus on stuff that people will actually buy.

(And I'm not being accusatory or anything, it's just a natural sequence of events, right?)

For me the cost of a product doesn't matter (Unless it's way out of my price range)

If I want it or like it, I will buy it at some point, it's just a lot depends on influences outside of Daz (such as other hobbies, paying down the credit card that was used, an emergency vehicle repair, etc.) as well as what project I'm currently working and what I see I will need in the near future compared to future projects.

Sure a sale does alter buying priority a little, but in the end sale or no sale, I still want to get those items :(

When Aeon Soul left RDNA right before the merger and they had that big last-chance blowout sale, I would have still bought the items I did had they just said "Last chance before they're gone" without the sale.

  • Griffin AvidGriffin Avid Posts: 3,832

It just says...it wasn't REALLY needed. I mean, half the store could be on the wishlist.

But I use the wishlist for ANYTHING that I might want so I don't have to scroll long lists of products in any  certain sale category...(although I STILL end up scrolling all those pages, just in case)

Desire decides that value of any discount versus and real need or potential for returns.....

    A scale...

agree but also want option to buy things even at full price if it is going to go for good as I said in coumtless threads

the fact is I cannot buy everything or would but something I yet haven't if going to be gone for good I might want, even if I missed a discount.

Fun fact: there's tons of stuff in the shop, that I wouldn't want to have even if it came for free. Seeing it priced at $ 10.- and more makes me wonder who in the world would be ready to spend that amount of money for them...

I've got some very ancient products in my library (including my first PA product, a Victoria 1.0 character) that definitely aren't in the store any more. The only time something has been pulled from my library was because the artist didn't own the rights to it, and that was many years ago.

  • kinda gotten to the stage when something gets released if you like it grab it asap just in case, in case it gets pulled deleted or as with some of the recent sales like some of the pro bundles newly released the price goes up earlier than normal one or two even went up the next day
