Easy way to see DAZ Connect only products?

I just bought some old characters at a bargain price thanks to the new sale but one didn't show up in DIM.  I checked and it was DAZ Connect only. I don't use DAZ Connect ever. So I manually downloaded to character and it's okay.  But it made me wonder: is there other content I've bought that I failed to realize was Connect only and have never downloaded?  It's possible, I often buy when I'm on a different PC so I don't download until later, sometimes days later. And at that point I don't go through the DIM list to bump it against my original order. So some things might have easily slipped past me.

But I don't know how to find items in my owned item list that are DAZ Connect only.  Is there way to do that?

What item was that? I was under the impression that there are no Daz Connect only items.

It says it's available in DIM but it's not there. When you go to the page from tyour order, it shows what you see below. If you open DIM and search directly for Simon, nothing comes up.  If you click the "download & install" installer ready file  from the product page below amd it opens DIM with the SKU in the search and again returns no files.  You can download it manually or I assume via conenct but it's not available in DIM.

  • I have the product and it shows up in DIM for me, but it seems that the tags are wrong. In the little black box that shows up in DIM when you put your cursor over the name of the product it only says "Connect available". There should be  at least "DAZ Studio 4.5+" also. Unfortunately I don't know how to make a screendump to show what I mean. You could try to go to preferences in DIM (the little cogwheel) and under "Downloads" see if there is a check mark for "Connect available". If there isn't, try to put one in and see if the product shows up.

I followed your suggestion and clicked the "connect available" button under download settings. That made Simon visible in DIM.  Why would that be a filter option that has to be ticked to get it via DIM and not Connect? Now that I know this, I guess I'll scan through my list of uninstalled files and see if there are any others that never showed up previously but I want installed.   Thanks for your help, I guess it solved my problem though it left me confused.

I just confirmed at least one other character, Drako for Ivan 7, only shows up in DIM if you hav the "Connect Available" button checked.  What a dopey thing to require in order to install DIM compatible products via DIM.  Thanks again.

  • I think it is a mistake by DAZ and not intentional at all. It is human to fail, after all.smiley

  • I'm not following the issue - if the Connect Available filter is not checked then Connect Available items will not show; if it is checked they will. People who want to isntall via DIM regardless should have it checked; people who wish to use DIM only for content that cannot be installed through Connect should have it cleared.

  • The problem with the product - and several others - is that there is no other tag except for the Connect one. Try this: go into preferences in DIM and uncheck (or check) the box for Connect available and then look at the number of products that DIM reports that you have. In my case the difference is 800 items.

  • Well, I'd expect uncecking Connect Available to make a pretty big difference since almost all Genesis or later content will be Connect Available.

  • Yes, that would be expected behaviour. But, for instance The Art Deco Hotel Lobby which I bought today is Connect Available. It shows up whether that box is checked or not. On the other hand, Simon only shows up when the box is checked and disappears from the list when it is not.

  • That's odd - and I'm not sure which would be intended. Please open a support ticket to ask.

  • I think the problem is that "Simon" has an "Active tag" for "Connect available" but it doesn't have a tag för DAZ Studio 4.5+, or any other program for that matter. The Lobby (DS versioin) on the other hand has DAZ Studio 4.5+ as the "Active tag" and "Connect available" as "Other tag(s)".

I've never had the Connect Available tag selected, And I've never needed it to be selected. Almost (I've just discovered it was merely 'almost') everything I've bought has come in through DIM fine without that box checked. Some things require it to be checked even though it says they are DIM compatible too. I think that's not expected behavior, why should DIM users want to filter on content that's  Connect Available? To me, that makes no sense. And apparantly DAZ agrees since 98% of their content seems to not require that.  I'm now figuring out which of the other 2% have never showed up in DIM before because I didn' thave that box ticked.
