Altern8 and albinism

I love Altern8, it has basically made me enjoy playing with skin settings even more than before. It also is fairly easy to use.

Though, I have the need to render an albinistic character, and was pondering if you guys have any suggestions on using these materials/shaders to do it well?

    For females:

    For males:

    You can also use

to swap male and female skin texture sets although makeup on the females & hair stubble on the males sometimes limits it's usefulness.  The Snowflake set has for example a 'natural makeup' option' and a 'peach lipstick' option that works OK as a pale or albino male. The Tyrone skin you may want to change the SSS mode on the iRay surfaces from Chromatic to Mono and change the translucency and transmitted colors both n the surfaces to plain white or extremely pale pink or peach.

The thing is about very pale characters the light will be highly reflected and wash out the character's features, making them look more cartoonish. That is the reason pale body builders use artificial suntan products (although a professional lighting technician should be able to handle changable lighting solution best suited to all contestants not just dark ones). However, for real life situations like you'd do in a DAZ render, 12 noon on the sommer solstice on a sunner day is bright and that's that.

There is a new product that is excellent but it's not really albino but pale olive:

...I was after some time able to create a realistic albino skin in SBP3.

I'm so glad you like Altern8! :D That makes me happy to hear! Skin tone can be tweaked a lot using skin settings and shaders like Altern8 but the settings can only push things so far and the textures/skin maps you're using will also play a big factor in how light/fair you can get the skin to look. Let me know what character's maps/textures you're wanting to use to create your albino character and (if I have the character) I'll see if there are suggestions I can make to help you get an Albino-look with the skin. :)

Generally speaking though, I recommend trying the different SSS Tints, Translucency Colors, and Translucency Strength settings that come with Altern8 for Genesis 8 to see if you can get the look you're after. :) Again though, I'd be happy to help set up some settings that can help if you'll let me know the skin textures you want to use. :) Starting with a fair skin will definitely help as some skin/texture maps will just not work for Albino skin.

With Kenji 7, I set a light blue color to SSS Reflectance Tint (Base Color Effect: Scatter &  Transmit) in order to turn it into a pale skin.
