HorusRaHorusRa Posts: 1,665

I can't find a read me for this nor any other instructions.
I have used this in the past but cannot remember how I did it or if there was a tutorial.
Anyone have any links or info on how to use this?

I don't have that so can't help there, but there is an alternative; I use Blacksmith Pro to convert, however, it is not needed.

I manually convert as I need them from V4 to G2F; then convert them to G3/8 using Blacksmith Pro

Manually, you do it via Surfaces Tab > Map Transfer

It isn't a texture converter, it's for covnerting Poser Mat poses to DS Materials presets, since those are needed to apply the materials to Genesis 2 Female with the V4 UV set. You can convert individually by apply the mat pose to Victoria 4, then using File>Save As>Materials preset, the script just automates the process (but as I don't have it I can't give any instructions).

Maybe I didn't use this but I sure thought I did. I'm trying to use a V4 mat on G2F.

Have your Genesis 2 Female loaded. Locate the V4 texture you want to load, you'll need the path for the script. You can navigate the file system from the script's folder selector, but I find the fastest way is to go to the desired materials folder in the Content Library and right click a material setting and Browse to File Location. Copy the full path from the File Explorer address bar, start the converter script and paste the path into the address bar in the folder selector. This will immediately bring you to your source material folder. Just select the material you want to load (it uses the .png thumbnail as a guide to the actual file) and enter. The texture will immediately load onto Genesis 2 Female. That's it. You can save a material preset from there if you want.

  • Do you have the Victoria 4 UVs for Genesis 2 Female? If so, apply the materials to Victoria 4, then File>Save As>Materials preset, then select Genesis 2 Female and apply the preset you just saved.

ok, sounds easy enough. I did a mock test earlier and when it brought up that folder selector, I was kind of lost from there. I haven't used these scripts, nor gen x stuff in quite a long time.

  • This is a newer post than the one about the ears

However, the ears is where I have a problem, too.

    I applied:  https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female

Then, I double click the icon for: https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female

I am just learning DS and have been collecting a few products over the years while still spending a lot of money on V4.  I have some wonderful textures and clothes for her, however I am tired of her eyes not closing and wanting a shorter figure.  I love the Genesis 2 characters.

Anyway, I would love for the ears, which are not seperate material zones to work properly.  I can always use hair that covers or correct in Paint Shop Pro.  However, if there is a work around, I would love it!!

The skins auto-converter has a built-in ear fix, so the converted textures don't have that problem. But, doesn't setting the material for the ears on Genesis 2 to the V4 torso maps take care of that if you are doing it manually?

ETA: Wait, sorry. The Batch converter has the ear fix. Give me a few minutes to check this out properly...

Okay, the Auto-Converter (one-shot materials load) can set the ear materials for DAZ Studio-format files (.ds, .dsa), but cannot do it for Poser-format .pz2 files. The script exits with a note that you might have to set the UV to V4 on the ears, but the materials don't seen to be set properly. Just copy the settings from the torso to the ears (in the surfaces tab), as the other post says, and you're good to go.

I will definitely try this when I get home from work?  I did try to find ears under the surface tab last night and couldn't.  However, I will try again tonight.

This product works so well, however, that if I cannot get the ears fixed, I will have to render a second time with a G2F skin close to what I am using and erase the messed up ears in Paint shop pro.

Thank you so much for your response!!
