Isn't it about this time of year when DAZ has the big annual sale with the ongoing bundles? I forget what they call it. Last year it was scaled back a bit from previous years so I'm wondering if it's going to happen. Not sure where to look if there are heads up notices for upcoming sales.

It's the PC+ Anniversary Sale.  It'll start when the PA sale ends (or shortly thereafter.)  But yes, it will happen.  Jack Tomalin's avatar already put his hat on in preparation.

I noticed that too. Freudian slip, perhaps? I plan to avoid any glitches that arise this year. I got some extra things last year and my conscience has been weighing on me since.

Anyway, I hope they have more themed bundles. I think when I joined, they bundled all the carnival stuff, and another year I think it was sci-fi, then art-deco sets. I'm hoping for something like that, just not the Antares/PSI/Marcoor stuff, I already have it. laugh Anyway, happy shopping!

Last year was a lot of REALLY old stuff which was, frankly, very disappointing. If it's a replay, I'll be saving money this year too.

Yeah, I can't remember what the theme was last year, but I seem to remember some of it I already had, like the 12th floor deco addons or marcoor corridor or something like that. After a while, these sales all blend together in my mind.

    yep, same here.

The longer DAZ is in operation, the more they should consider different sales tactics since there will be longer time users and then very new users, both with different tastes and varied libraries. It's hard for me to imagine any old time users still using V4/M4 in any substantial way. I know I haven;t used those figures in years.

they have been transforming quite some newer things into PC items lately, so some of those might as well come up in a sale

OP corrected the typo, I thought it was rather ironic

Agreed.  Last year's PC+ sale really drove in the point that the sale's focus has completely changed away from it's original advertised purpose of rewarding existing PC members.  Instead, we say non-PC members and newbies reaped the majority of the benefits as the same items that had been trotted out and bundled in every previous year got trotted out yet again... In the end. out of a dozen "special PC bundles offered, I ended up only getting one.

On the positive side, at least the recent conversion of a huge chunk of the PA catalog into DAZ Originals hopefully means we'll see some "new" items showing up in the discount sales this time around.

I assure you there are PLENTY of people still using V4. Most Poser users, for instance, but there are DS users as well. There is still content for V4 being made, and it still sells.

  • Some old stuff is fine to me, now that I know the G2 to G8 clothing converters are coming soon...

The newbies have always been the big winners in the PC Anniversary event. But it has been a while since there was a major theme applied to it.

The themed events have been when we would suddenly get a flood of *new* PC items. Released daly rather than weekly. The themes that stick most in the mind have been the 1930s carnival one and a couple of years later there was a 1950s one. I'm not sure but what that some of the Deco sets and furn might have been a part of a more recent one. But we haven't had a major overriding "theme" to the event for a while. Which is a bit of a pity since they were fun. But then there were always the usual complaints from the people who weren't into that year's theme.

The Bundles and Extravaganzas have generally always been made up of backlist items offered with a major price discount. And there has usually also been a largish bundle of backlist items packaged as a freebie for members. This package would typically be given out at the very beginning of the sale, and most members had at least some of the items, but usually not all of them, so it was worth putting it in your cart for those.

Most of the bundles and extravaganzas have usually been loosly themed, but not to a major degree. There has usually been some randomness to it as well.

Two years ago, Daz introduced the BYOB format for the older content they had previously been putting into themed bundles for $2.99. Because we could build our own, and there wasn't a limit on how many of these you could buy, it was a lot of fun. I bought 15 of those bundles. Last year was a repeat of the BYOB format. Unfortunately, it felt like a repeat of the products offered, as well. Many people commented on it, pointing out there were so many more of the $1.99 PC+ products, and asking why the BYOB products weren't different from the year before. (I still managed to buy 8 bundles!)

I really do hope Daz continues to have BYOB offers during the anniversary sale, but I also hope none of the BYOB products offered this year were offered last year or the year before. (Fingers crossed.)

Well, it's always items from the backlist. I never made a point of trying to determine how recent the backlist items were, before they were offered in the bundles or as potential BYOB items. However, at 4 new PC items released per week, the last year alone would provide a couple of hundred relatively new ones.

The bundle offers are really for the members who *don't* tend to pick up the weekly releases whether they have an immediate use for them or not. And a lot of people simply don't. This is a chance to pick up a number of them on an even deeper discount then the regular PC pricing.

In a year or two, we'll be looking forward to the PC+ event in order to pick up the dForce stuff which was priced higher from the get-go.

As I recall the comments last year, it wasn't so much that people expected to see products in the BYOB that sell for more than $1.99 normally, but that the pool of products offered seemed to be mostly the same as those offered the year before. If Daz keeps using the same 400-500 products in the BYOB every year, there eventually won't be enough products in the offer for long time members to buy one bundle, let alone more.

And I was kind of hoping the "2018 PC Anniversary Bundles," (the more expensive bundles with much newer content,) would include some of those dForce outfits! After all, I've seen Daz bundle in products from the previous 12 months before. (Remember Vintage Rose for G2F? Grantham Hall Suit for G2M? I bought those on release, and nearly every texture when it came out. And Daz put most of them together into a single themed bundle for $9.95 that year!)

What was disappointing last year is some of the products in the bundles required other products that weren't part of the bundle or on sale. Many of the products were repeats of previous sales as stated above. You can't expect every sale to cater to you but the one question I wished I could have an answer is if the sale was disappointing for DAZ as well. They can't give away the house but you can't make money either if there is no incentive. I saved a lot of money last year as a result. Fingers crossed for this year.

My PC membership expired a couple of months back and I decided not to renew. I'll be checking out this years PC Anniversary sale to see if it's worth renewing - if it's anything like last year's, I can safely say I won't renew.
