Great Googley Moogley...

Okay, going to make this short since I just spent half an hour  writing a post and finding out things only to lose it all when I accidentally hit the backspace key...

I was installing things  earlier when I ran out of space on my main drive, it is a one TB drive that i have been avoiding putting things on for quite a while, I have a drive for games and a drive for mycontent for DAZ Studio and Poser, even though I don't even have Poser installed on this machine. I  looked into it and  the install manager changed the install location from my content drive to my main drive, which is what ate up all my space, or at least it ate up the last of my space and now I have 167 gigs of content on my main drive instead of with the rest on my content drive...  which is going to be a pain to transfer over.

Anyone had  install manager change where it installs on you?

Also, does install manager download, install and save the downloads, or does it download install and delete the download, and if it saves them, where are they loacated, because if they are on my main drive as well, I need to move them too.

I can't answer your questions but  I can say this.   You may not have lost the post you spent all that time writing.  Click on that gear icon on the blue-ish line and see if you have a line in the drop down that says "My Drafts"   this software does automatiocally save drafts every so often, so you may have most of it there.

  • It saves the downloads if you tell it so, as far as I remember, you can decide. On my disk, the downloads go into "C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads , together with the dsx-files, which MUST stay there, or download manager will load these items again and again. All you can move are the zip-files (which eat most of the space).

Thanks, I'll remember that for next time it happens, but I'll leave the post as it is, as it basically says the same thing.

Yup, thanks, that's another 109 gigs of space I can clear on that drive...

I've not had this happen, and can't think how it could - unless you'd created a new account in DIM for soem reason, or possibly something corrupted account.ini .

By default it keeps the zips, but there's a check-box in Ready to Install to tell it to delete them once done installing.

Yeah I have no idea how it could have done that Is there a way to tell it where to save any files it downloads?

EDIT: Oh and no I didn't make a new account, it is the same one I have had the whole time.

  • Click the gear icon at top-right of the main window to open preferences, then in the Downloads tab you can set the folder to use for the zips.

Happened to me the other day. It had lost my saved password so I had to re-enter it. Later I couldn't find some new products after installing them, turned out it had reset everything to default so things now were installed on C.

I uninstalled the products that it had installed on C, then I changed the paths back to where they should be, and reinstalled the products again on the correct drive. I think that's the correct way to do it as the manifest files then will be deleted and restored pointing to the correct location.

On the "Downloads" tab under Settings.
