The Big Cat Dog

https://www.daz3d.com/big-cat-dog-for-daz-dog-8

Dogs are dogs, and cats are cats, but the Big Cat Dog can serve both your needs from one mesh.

Using the popular Dog 8 figure at DAZ, you can now also have a variety of Big Cats.  Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs and Jaguars, and even a Panther can all be found in this character package.

Also includes are 3 different fur options for use with any level of detail you require in your scene. One uses simple displacement maps to simulate fur on the texture itself. Then there is also a Fur Geoshell, which gives another level of fur detail and is very render friendly. Then we also have a LAMH preset which works for 3Delight, but can also be saved out as an object and used in Iray with the custom Material files included for Iray.

  • Product Includes
    • One Lion Dog Character Preset
    • Five Big Cat Breed Full Body HD Morphs
    • Five Big Cat Breed Shaping Morphs
    • Five Big Cat Breed Body Material Presets
    • Five Eye Material Presets
    • Six Iray LAMH Fur Material Presets + one mane
    • Six 3Delight LAMH Fur Presets
    • Includes both Iray and 3Delight Material Presets

  • These are so freaking awesome!  Seriously!  I have to wait for my paycheck to actually clear this weekend but will be snagging this as soon as possible.

  • I want!  This makes me glad I got dog 8.

    I gotta wait too!

  • An EXTREMELY minor critique, but felines do not have a visible sheath ^^''

I hate to discuss this, but since Dog8 has visible genitalia, good thing to note.

I believe it is easily hidden on the figure itself...so not a problem

What is a Fur Geoshell?  Technically, that is.  And what kind of fur technique is being rendered in those promo images (displacement, geoshell,LAMH) ?

A geoshell is basically a "shell" of the figures geometry that surrounds the figure and can be offest from it.

I use that with displacment and transparency maps to create a simple fur effect. That with a displacment map on the figure itself gives a "decent" fur effect for when you do not want to use LAMH.

You can see the effect on the face shot in this promo:

In the promos you will see all the different fur effects I use in the different shots. The ones that look the most like hair are the LAMH versions. The rest are displacment and geoshell fur.

Ah, so a fur geoshell is basically a second displacement layer?  Like an outer displacement layer, mixed in with the inner base displacement layer.  That's interesting.

it is a shell that you can apply material setting to. I used displacment/transparency and diffuse settings to simulate a fur effect.
