i'm importing Mike4 into daz studio, to save as a duf figure.

has anyone come across an importable weightmap for him?

i have old rdna's poser weightmap for v4. no idea how to translate it ds

is hard living without the face rigging, can make do with face morphs for secondary characters

thanks

I am fairly sure the answer to this is no. There have been several V4 weightmapped versions, but all using Poser weight mapping, and these can not be easily transferred to DS weight mapping as far as I know. The only weight mapped M4 version I am aware of is the one for M4 LOD (17K) version that was released by Joe Public on the rendo forums. Like with V4, this uses Poser weight maps, so would not be useable in DS. The only option you have is to pose the figure in Poser, then export the mesh, and then import that into DS.

Since Genesis 1-3 can take M4s shape, morphs, textures and poses (though some products are needed to achieve this), these give an alternative way of getting M4 characters with decent weight mapping working in DS.

I'm not very familiar with the subject, but is the weight map you get when converting M4 to Triax not what you are looking for? Or not good enough? (Edit->Figure-Rigging->Convert Figure to Weight Mapping...) To save as .duf, it has to be triax anyway, so that's a start.

Is there a specific M4 character you are trying to use in Daz studio.???
Perhaps consider recreating him with GENX2 and  G3.

Doesn't quite work that way — the automatic conversion produces pretty mediocre quality weight maps for something as complicated as a human (or critter) figure. The weight maps used in things like the different Genesis generations, which were always in D|S format, have been heavily customised and manually painted to fit what the actual mesh looks like, and what kind of bends are allowable.

has anyone managed to transfer the g3m rigging, with face rig, to M4?

in a manner that his character morphs still work?

few chars i'm hoping to save as individual actors, as in not overloading the morphs folder

no product page left for dane m4

okay smiley i see how/where to insert a weightmap for my imported M4 in DS, and can put it in a separate dsf file, so wont have to do it for every M4 char i save

theres a thread here somewhere about painting blue with the wm brush, and the problems with it

carrara can save and load a weightmap from its interface.
