What do we WANT from the next male G8 base?

I saw an interesting comment in the Dwayne 8 thread that we're no letting Daz know exactly what we DO want, and just complaining.

So here's a thread dedicated to only the things we WANT to see.

It doesn't matter if you'd like to see more toon or hyper realistic characters, whatever you want to see is personal to you.

What I'd love to see;

ANY other ethnicity except caucasian, but an Asian male character like Lee 7 would be awesome!

Failing that a unique body type would be great too, maybe he's chubby or particularly slim and very lean, maybe very tall.. anything other than buff or old.

I'd also LOVE to see more content for men that is typically associated with females, I know we saw some great female fashion content for en earlier this year and it would be a shame to stop there. Someone super androgenous would be an interesting character to have.

Other add ons I'd love are fibre mesh anything and more hair styles!

I'm getting a strong impression that apart from the sitll MiA official Asians, most of the people in the forums at the very least seem to want a new male base to be a stylistic counterpart to one of the female bases. Particularly once you drift a little farther across the spectrum from "stylistic" to "stylized".

No problem if the male base comes out first, like Ollie/Edie or Floyd/Mabel, but the end users do seem to want both genders to look like they could exist in the same universe.

Which makes every kind of sense if you are doing *anything* other than pinups with only one figure (or multiple females).

I've always been a bit grumphed that we never got a female counterpart for Morpheus. But the situation is much worse in the other direction. We keep getting standalone females with no counterpart.

Of course, if you are sticking to realistic figures, then a good collection of morph packages is your friend. But it's nice to get some professional-level modeling in the target morphs that you are combining.

I'd like to see an Asian male, if possible also with an older character in the bundle.

  • More ethnicity and back to the basic realism as far as overall figure shapes are concerned. I'm not coming to the forums to complain. I complain and praise with my wallet although I'll admit I rather feel the frustrations shared by many in regards to an ever-increasing lack of male content. I can go all the way back to V4 and find quite a selection of ethnic beauties in my runtime. Arabic figures as one example. The poor ladies in my folders just have to choose from white man after white man regardless of how great they look. The last Arabic dude (and in my opinion the best ever) was RedZ's Raj. And I love using Sliman for M4 via GenX. I'm just using that ethnic type as an example. But I'd certainly love to see an Arabic DO. I'm not opposed to more whities. I'm pretty sure I've purchased all the G8 men except Lucas and Dwayne. But the dudes have become starkly absent of late. I want more and want to buy more. They're my primary purchase in this store. If they're going to the wayside, so be it. I save a ton of money and I have 1000s of stuff I already play with. I have no use for yet more pretty white dames. And equally no use for feminine men, androgynous types, and such. I have enough morphs and figures to achieve those results if I want. *shrug*

I would like contemporary clothing, sci-fi and adult male figures.  I don’t need more seniors, toons, or kids, fantasy or gladiator stuff. A Gianni would be nice even though his bundle tends to be fantasy geared.

I want Rarestone to make an anime boy.

I want a Korean pop star.

I want a pro bundle themed around 'antihero', with a Feature model to match, kind of like G3's Lucien.

Asian men. Not just one. Multiple. Many. I have tons of Asian women figures of various ages and they're getting angry because they have no fathers or boyfriends.

Pacific islander men. Adding them to the Gen 8 gene pool would be amazing. It sure worked for Jason Momoa and Dwayne the Rock Johnson. Here's a Pinterest board I found that can provide some inspiration..https://www.pinterest.com/mandyjokegirl/polynesian-men/?lp=true

Middle and Near Eastern men. Just search Pinterest for "handsome near and middle eastern man" and you'll find a whole lot of what we don't have here.

Yes, I do want attractive figures, both male and female. Quirky and distinctive is good. They don't have to be perfect. Today's Brandon is probably my favorite male character ever.. By dialing Brandon's head down and other heads up, some really terrific things can happen. Having a variety of the above-described characters who would likewise mix well would be amazing and really do a lot for the Gen 8 male.

I don't care that much about body types because I have morph packs and dial mixers for that. But high-quality faces from around the world--that's what I need.

I also want good clothing and accessory packages. Stuff that kitbashes nicely, either with or without shaders. Not stuff that's crazy specialized. Versatile items with options.

Yep, I will buy the heck out of that stuff. I even bought the Dwayne pro bundle just for Brandon. I wish Brandon had been the base figure with a bunch of diverse morphs for him.

I like it but at 1st I though it was a Guy 8 Pro Bundle replacement and it departed stylistically so drastically from Girl 8 style but I think it's inteneded primarliy for video game maker hobbyists and I'm buying it (or parts of it) for that reason.

Well as for the product suggestions well I liked the Girl 8 Pro Bundle & addons with themes of vaguely 40s and 50s pinup gals so for the Guy 8 Pro Bundle and addons I'd like themes of 40s and 50s mundane (ugh! mundane if you're an armchair general!) heroic types like various military, police, fire, construction, and so on even though it would be likely so many types of such clothing is too big an effort to make for one pro bundle and so they'd use clothing and hairs from past products for some of the ad copy renders (as did the Girl 8 public release too so not a precedent) especially since they don't sell as well as the gals; but I would like to see a big number of characters for that pro bundle just like the Girl 8 pro bundle release got.

Personally, I could use a younger male character, a companion to Josie or Kaylee. The closest we have to a teen male is Lucas and really doesn't fit the bill. Also, someone pointed this out and now I can't unseen it: less squinty eyes. Every male character looks like they have the sun in their eyes.

I'd love to see Lee 8, Gianni 8 and Leo 8. They were all great characters as 7's. Lee 6 and Gianni 6 were wonderful too. I'll keep using them for now, but would love to see a few more heroic and diverse men.

@GlenWeb Raj and Shadowborn by Redz are two of my favorite male characters ever. She really makes some fabulous guys!

A male alien similar to Zelara would be great (and IMO, he would be even better if his "human" version were an ethnicity other than caucasian)!  I'd also love to see a more elf/faerie/more feminine/not cartoony adult male character. There are not too many male characters like that.

A baby would be nice but I suspect I have a Frappuccino’s chance in the hot place of getting one. wink

Agreed! Babies would be good! I will join you for that Frappucino, Serene! wink

I always wondered what a frappucino was. I want to get one of them stream espresso makers with the premeasured cups this year since I'm not a big coffee drinker. It'd be great for making my soy-milk fake ice cream.

If you can accept a unisex baby Sixus 1 has one for G8F. it's not bad at all, although finding skins which don't have overgroomed eyebrows  is an added challenge.

For my own part, what I would like, and by that I mean *really* like, is a series of "Character 7 for Character 8" releases of all of those DAZ official characters which *aren't* scheduled to get a retread in G8. Built for the equivlent standard G8F/M base figure.

That would both get us over the hurdle of all of those frapping unnecessary unique UV sets to be able to use their textures, and bring in some of the more unique body shapes like Bethany and Elijah, and put them on dials to mix in without needing to jump through a whole series of hoops.

I think I own most of her characters. I might be missing one or two. I agree her men are terrific, but hell, her ladies are too for that matter.

Male Superheros and costumes! Bring on Scott 8!

Kenji 8, with bishi morphs add-ons

Uniforms that look good and well tailored. Military dress, Fireman, Paramedic, doctor, more military gear, new police car, flightsuit. I think a man in uniform is the ultimate sex symbol.

A dforce frumpy suit that hangs on the body.

    None feminine hairstyles

I'm a matchy matchy kind of person, If there is an genre outfit ( for example, sci-fi) for the girls I want to at least find something that "compliments" the outfit. It doesn't have to look the same, just look like it can be part of the same universe.

I would like to see characters from various places in this large world.  Also various types of heroic males, just think about male counterparts of the female characters.  Owen 8 was a fantastic character, I like the aproach of making a handsome male but not conventionally so.

I've got the Sixus baby. It's not a bad start, and there are a few characters for it. Redz did Rosie, which I think is the best one I've seen. The hardest part with the baby is finding skins with no makeup or five o clock shadows! LOL That looks bizarre on anything but a toony one!

AngelWings is also doing some very young characters that look great.

Edie is my favorite of the Gen 8 characters.  Mabel is a close 2nd.

I'm waiting on the Asian characters.  Would be nice to have another set of Polynesian or Latinx characters.

    Sakura's male counterpart.

Asian men including Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Indian/Pakistani.

    Sakura's male counterpart.

    Central/South American men.

    Sakura's male counterpart.

    An androgenous figure.

    Sakura's male counterpart.

We have Teen Josie and Teen Kaylee, so a couple of male teen characters would work. Also, some male anime characters to go along with Aiko and Sakura. An official male cyborg in the same nature as the terminator would be cool!

I would like a male counterpart for each style of female.  That does seem to be a common comment.

Every new generation of figures has started out with prime age, physically fit, white, photo-realistic females and males.  (Victoria 1-8 and Michael 1-8).

    - always welcome more varieties of skin color, facial features, hair patterns, etc.

    - always welcome more varieties of age (both young and old)

    - always welcome more varieties of fitness (from musclemen and square jaws to beer bellies and double chins)

    - always welcome more varieties of style (meaning non-photoreal - there are many different styles of toon, comic, puppets, etc.)

Have a thread on character actors somewhere.  See there for many examples of people who often do not have the features traditionally considered attractive, yet populate our visual stories.  Would welcome more male and female characters to help fill out the entire cast, not just the leading roles.

** To sum up, as Oliver said, "please sir, I'd like some more."
