Spirit or Ghost Shaders?
A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away... no wait, wrong thread, It was however a long time ago, there was a shader or add-on or Something for DS that gave results very similar to what is seen in the main screenshot for https://www.daz3d.com/haunted-mansion-poses
I know it exists because I bought it, thinking it would be a very cool addition to Poser, alas it was a DS only product, so I returned it, now I am doing everything in DS and have been searching for it to re-purchace, but cannot find it anywhere.
Anyone know who/what/where/ to purchase?
Thanks
V

I love it
Note that it is 3Delight only.
What exactly does that mean? Page says it works in DS 4.100
Aah that means there are two render engines included with DS, IRay and 3DL. Both engines use their own dedicated shaders, so if you want to use IRay this product doesn't work with it, it was created before IRay was introduced. But yes it works in 4.10 as long as you choose 3DL in the render settings tab when you render out your scene.
Ah, okay...
So do you know how it works, maybe it’s setting can be converted to iRay?
No it can't , the engines use totally different shader languages, and no-one has come up with something similar (ghost opacity) for IRay yet. If you have a poser background and a lot of poser content, note that poser materials convert to 3DL quite easily, you only need to check out specular/glossiness, bump strength and ambient settings when applied in DS. For IRay you have to do some work before they look good. I'm no IRay expert and use 3DL exclusively, so if you want to know how to convert to IRay, search the forums, there are lots of threads on the subject;) Or just ask. Main thing is IRay will convert 3DL mats on the fly (obviously you still need to tweak some settings in most cases) but it doesn't work the other way around without some fuzzing about.
If you like the price "FREE" you could try this (though it's experimental so maybe not perfect yet): https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/56522/iray-ghost-shader
Ah, that looks pretty nice, but it's not "true" ghost opacity, is it, internal geometry showing.
