dForce Monk for Genesis 8 male..no dforce?
in The Commons
So I bought this thing today; https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-monk-for-genesis-8-males
It seems fine, but when I try to use dForce with it, Daz 4.10 AND Daz 4.11 BETA both state that it has no dForce preset applied to it.

There's a thread about this in the Members forum, supposedly its being looked into, but its why I didn't buy it.
It's easy enought to apply the dforce modifier, and then simulate. that's what I did and it works fine. It even collided with the belt without me having to do anything extra.
Check the deforce setting of the robe in Parameter tab. Select the robe, go to Simulation (within the listing of the parameter tab), and in "Simulation object type" change it from Static Surface to Dynamic Surface. That is all there is to change, if I understood the thread correctly.
There should be an update sometime within the next few weeks to fix the problem.
Correct, but hopefully sooner :)
But why should the customer do that when the item is advertised as dforce ready, the prices are higher on these dforce items so really this should be checke before release.
I agree, it should have been caught. However, I only buy male stuff and I wanted a more up to date Monk's robe, so i bought it. I don't mind having to add the modifier. At this point, I'm willing to do the work; as much as 2 clicks can be considered "work". And it's not like the item is of poor quality.
Also, I'd rather buy it now, than wait and by the time the update comes out the price will have gone up.
I submitted a ticket a few days ago. It also installs into "Clotihing" instead of "Clothing".
But like @zombbietaggerung said, I also would rather purchase it while still on sale and hope the issues (minor, in this case) get sorted out sooner rather than later.
For me, I don't know what settings the creator made for the cloth, so even if I can do dforce myself, it might not match the intended cloth behaviour.
Mind, I DID buy the product due to the sale. Put this thread up more to shine light on this.
From Jack's message, it sounds like they have a fix coming soon. Hopefully it will solve both problems. You can always return it if it is unsatisfactory, so buying it while on discount, seems like a good idea, if you want it.
The dForce modifier is already applied, as BeeMKay says you just need to change the type from Static to Dynamic in Parameters.
"dForce ready" needs a lot more than just having the dForce modifier enabled. In fact, turning on the dForce modus to "Dynamic" is the least important thing. Buttons have to be fixed in place, but yet enabled to move with the rst of the cloth and tons of other small details have to be taken care of, to allow some piece of clothes to dForce properly.
So just having to assign that "Dynamic" modus yourself is a very small problem IMHO
I may be wrong but I think that the item has to have the modifier applied before any of that can be done so presumable its not been done so the item is far from dforce at all.
As far as I know the monk's robe just needs the type set to Dynamic in Parameters - that's been the case witha couple of other items that have needed a similar change.
A lot of the set-up is done before the item is imported into DS; adding Rigid Follow Nodes, if the buttons or whatever are handled that way, can be doen at any point. The dForce Modifier does have to be applied before the surface settings are avaialble for adjustment, or to add weightmaps, but again that hasn't been the problem in the four or so items that I am aware of that have needed the final switch flipped.
Just making this clear; I LIKE the product, I am keeping it.
The weight map is my main thing with the dforce, to be honest. Different materials behave in different ways, so I'll wait for the update eagerly.
You don't need a weight map for this. The male figure is wearing the robe and all I did was apply the dynamic modifier and drape. I was in a hurry so it could probably look better, but still. No weight maps needed.
So one has to wonder why we are paying increased prices for dforce items if its so straight forward to do it ourselves.
I hear you and had the same thought. However, keep in mind that in addition to any dForce surface settings and modifier weight maps, the mesh itself must also be designed to simulate well.

I agree on principle. However as Algovincian says, I also know that there are extra modeling steps that are required before it gets to the store, so for me personally, the higher price is somewhat acceptable if it's something I will use/need.
You have the wrong end of the stick. The issue with the monk's robe, as I undrstand it it, is that it iss et up for dfroce and ready to use but for some reason the switch used to toggle it on/off is in the off position - the fix here, pending an update, is to flip that switch so that all of the dForce work that has already been done becomes active.
