I love having the two 27" monitors. I feel I have a ton of room :). Everything I use is right where I need it.

I sit on my living room sofa and work off of a 42 inch RCA TV. Before I started working on it I compared colors and contrast  from my old CRT calibrated monitor. Then I adjusted my TV settings to be a close match to my monitor. I can have prints done from my pro lab of work done off my TV and it looks perfect. If you don't trust calibrating by eye you can get a spyder and calibrate that way.

OMG I just remembered the 19" CRT monitor I had years ago. That thing was a beast and monopolized my desk. After a year or so I got some extra money and bought a 19" LCD (LED?) monitor. That thing was tiny compared to the CRT! I gave away the 19" CRT monitor. Then, awhile later, I bought two 24" monitors. I moved from Maine to Minnesota, and shipped my good stuff. I decided to give away the 19" monitor because I rarely used it any more!

I've recently noticed that I can see dots on the screen of the 32" 1080p TV. So far it hasn't distracted me too much. I mainly like having my DAZ Studio panes on the 32" TV. I can easily see the thumbnails, and read the text.

I tried to setup a monitor arm on my mobile computer desk. I had a 24" monitor attached to it. I should have known the desk wasn't thick enough to hold the weight. The monitor fell down onto the desk. The screen looks ok. I pulled the monitor arm off the desk, and the adjusting monitor arm started crushing one of my fingers. I had to endure the pain while I lowered the monitor onto the floor. Then I was able to open up the monitor arm and free my finger!

nicstt I think many people have called DAZ Studio "DAZ" since it was first introduced. They'll never stop. laugh

Agreed, but doesn't mean there is never any confusion. Besides, it is polite to refer the company by its name, and similarly get the products named correctly too.

After a while one gives up trying to herd cats.  Although, bribing them might work. enlightened

nicstt, yes I hear you. In my Younger, More Foolish days, I tended to hound people over such details. I never changed anyone's mind or actions. Now I'm much older, and a little bit wiser. I let it go. At the same time, I respect your attitude on the matter.

LeatherGryphon, my ex-wife had a couple cats. I think they were like most cats. They had a mind of their own.laugh I miss them sometimes, even though they're likely dead by now.

Several people mentioned 43 inch monitors.

There are essentially identical 43 inch monitors from all the major monitor manufacturers: Acer, Dell, LG, NEC, Philips, Viewsonic. (that's alphabetical order, not personal preference). And by "essentially identical" I mean all with the same flat panel and based on the same reference design, all have the same basic featuure set, PIP + 4 way PBP, etc: the main differences being UI tweaks and case design. I don't think they even differ in backlights.

I have 43 inch Acers (yes, plural). Do not underestimate the importance of case design. The Acer is VESA-unfriendly. It has the bulk of its mass below the centerline, and the VESA mount well above center, so all your monitor arm's height is used up just getting the dang thing to float an inch or two above the desktop, and portrait orientation is out of the question.

I wish I had sprung for the Dells. The mount is centered, the monitor balanced for portrait or landscape.

  • Fast, semi-related question. If you had to choose between 1 27" monitor and 2 23" monitors, which do you go for?
