TangoAlpha.....
I'm not sure this is really the right place to post this but I couldn't see any category which it fit into better.
TangoAlpha ?... I'm sure a lot of us have stuff from this artist? On face valve it all looks amazing and in my opinion it's up there with some of the best looking stuff you'll see.
BUT ! Who the hell can get it to run???
My PC is not state of the art, it will never dominate the world, but it's also not a lame donkey and pretty much everything that DAZ can throw at it, it will cope with in some shape or form...
That is apart from TangoAlpha stuff. (Jackson's Farm works perfect and I've had some reall great shots using it), after Jackson Farm nothing works? I load up my scene, I pose and set up my figures, everything looks fine, let's go for a take!.....
But oh no!....
You can't because as soon as you hit 'render' it's just like pulling the plug on the world. 3h 10mins of sitting watching and waiting for 'render' to happen but it never does, nothing crashes, nothing returns to desk top... just nothing happens. I just sit here for hours, days, weeks...... but no sign of any rendered picture, nothing.
Can someone tell me please? How do I get this TangoAlpha stuff to work ??
Thank you.

TangoAlpha generally has a thread for each product in the forum for Commercial Products. His most recent set, the one based on the UK beach with the stone arch, includes a customer render of a dinosaur by the beach. See here.

I'm sure if you raised your concern in that thread, the people who post renders there could discuss the computer resources they have and their experience with his sets.
Of course, you can also do that here. I have many of his sets and like them very much. He makes use of Daz instancing which I like very much.
*** Yes, his sets are big. That is what makes them so versatile.***
But instancing should hold down the resource hit. If your system is still struggling, you can often remove parts of the scene not in view of the camera - at least you can in Carrara.
Don't missunderstand me Diomede, I also love TanoAlpha stuff, as I said, it's up there with some of the best looking stuff I've seen.
My PC has a 3.10Gb processor, 32 Ram and a Geforce 980Ti extreme...... But I can not get TangoAlpha stuff to do anything... It doesn't even cause my PC to crash, it doesn't return to desk top and I don't even get the 'DAZ3D is not responding' stuff.... I just sit here for hours waiting and watching a blank screen because nothing renders.
Your system specs are the same as or better than mine for those categories. Hmmm. If you want to maximize the chances that the PA knows of your issues, I'd recommend going to that commercial thread. He started it after all. In addition, other people who follow his stuff closely are also likely to see your concerns and may be able to give suggestions for how they use his sets

Here is a quick render I did of his beach scene. Hesitated to post it because I threw it together so quickly. There is no expression, no adjustments to lighting, etc, etc, etc. But I didn't have any trouble. I just loaded his scene, plopped a G2F character in there (Ysabeau) with hair/clothes and hit render. Rendered quickly. Click to see full size. Maybe others can report.
Thank you for your input Diomede, you are probably correct and I'll check out that thread.
I don't have the beach one but I do have a fair amount of the other stuff..... Jackson Farm works everytime no matter what setting I put it into, I just can't get any single life what so ever out of any of the other stuff...
Thanks again...
I do think it would be helpful to know which specific sets are causing you trouble. At the moment we just know that Jackson Field does work for you. Perhaps you are having trouble with ones that I haven't been using. I know I have used the tower (Hemlock Folly?) and the city hall (forget its name) and the one with the road going through the ford and water. I remember the one with the ford took a long time to render because of the reflections, etc.
@jontaylor99
If it takes that long, it sounds like you dropped to CPU. It doesn't take too many figures, especially if some are close to the camera, to go over the 6GB VRAM on the 980TI.TangoAlpha has stated that instancing on newer products is done much better than the older ones.
I have the opposite issues that you are having.Jacksons Field was unusable for me once I added any kind of figures to it, so I stopped buying from TA. The Arch Cove came out and I took another chance and find it works much better than expected.
This is a problem in general for a lot of newer environments. My PC is a few steps above yours and I have issues many times. The biggest problem is that most of the resource hungry environments work fine alone, but since they are supposed to be used as backgrounds as soon as you start adding figures, clothing and hair, there is no more head room for resources. Then when you bring up the issue of poor modeling and no optimization you get the cop out excuse of use scene optimizer, blah, blah, blah. I have yet to be able to use several of the products I purchased with any content in them other than the scene themselves.
Remember that most of Tango Alpha’s products use a lot of instancing. As such when rendering in Iray you should always use the “Optimized for Memory” setting, not the “Optimized for Speed”.
99 times out of 100, if an Iray render doesn't start to appear within a couple of minutes, it'll be because Instancing Optimisation is not set to Memory.
All my newer instanced sets have a notice in the store page telling you to check this setting. Unfortunately Jackson's Field is one of my oldest sets (and the least efficient), and doesn't mention it.
I have most of his sets, and haven't had any problems with any of them, even with 10 year old hardware and only 8 GB RAM. I do have an 8 GB 1070 card though.
FWIW, If you load the sandy or pebbles scene for Arch Cove, TangoAlpha haas been kind enoough to set Optimization to memory. Of course your preferences might ignore scene settings, so probably a good idea to check anyway.
