Dear,

I just generate this ogre skullcrusher, my first Daz 3D creation:

image

I have 2 questions concerning this image found in other web page that uses the same ogre skullcrusher version:

image

1. My skin is plain, don't has relief like the other image

2. The mouth is open, how can I open the mouth of my ogre ?

Thanks and best regards, Xavi

To open the mouth select the figure in the parameters tab under Pose there should be a mouth open dial.

As to the difference in the skin your images are much too small to make out any detail or lack of. But to make a guess you are rendering with Iray and the Skullcrusher mats are optimised for the 3delight engine, if I remember they use displacement to get a bumpy effect and displacement doesn't work quite the same in Iray as in 3dl. You will need t alter the the settings in the surfaces tab.

    Dear,

I just create my 2nd Daz 3D figure, a Rock Troll.

If we see the original product https://www.daz3d.com/rock-troll we can see a very good texture, it seems a real rock

My figure is plain, how can I create this relief ?

    image

It doesn't seem to be a rendering problem because at design time it doesn't show relief:

    image

And the last one, how can I open the mouth of the troll ?

    Thanks and kind regards, Xavi

Ok, I will try to open the mouth following your instructions.

In design time I can't see texture or relief in my Daz 3D viewport

I rendered a 10000 pixels image, it can't be higher

If I render the image again using 3delight I will see a texture ?

    Thanks, Xavi

  • It is likely you will see a texture if you render it in 3Delight.  Skin textures render entirely differently under IRAY vs 3Delight, and Genesis 1 figures were all using 3Delight MATS, IRAY wasn't around at the time.

Ok, I will render with 3Delight

About the mouth I just see the dials in Parameters/Actor, but only to change width or height, nothing to change the mouth expression :-(

I read more information in this link https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/34810/how-to-open-genesis-mouth-solved, but I can't find expressions

    Thanks, Xavi

  • Merged threads since they are essentially the same topic - getting a result sinilar to the promo images.

As well as using the right render engine, 3D elight or Iray, a big factor is lighting - if you want to show relief detail, whether it's added by bump or displacement or HD morph, requires a soemwhat directional light - a very diffuse ambient light comng from all directions will then to flatten detail in the render. As an experiment, try adding a spot-light shining at the figure from front left or front right (you can do this by selecting the light in a view selector button at top-right and using the viewport controls to show a suitable view of the figure), then switch back to your camera (or the perspective view) and try a render - if you are using Iray go to redner Settings, in the Editor tab under Environment set the mode to Scene Only and in Tone Mapping turn the ISO up to something like 1600.

Near the bottom of the parameter list should be pose... Or select the head and look at the bottom of the parameter list...

The Rock Troll doesn't have the mouth or expressions dials in Parameters like Ogre

How can I change it ?

    Thanks, Xavi

The base figure has basic expressions

The Troll is an older base figure, it probably isn't set up with types for its modifiers. If in doubt, use the Parameters pane rather than the speciailised panes (Posing, Shaping etc.)

Using 3D elight the result is different, but I only get a soft relief skin.

I will follow your light and other instructions.

    Thanks, Xavi
