I'm recovering, finally

I just ordered a 3TB external drive to use for my DAZ Studio stuff. I already have a portable 3TB hard drive that I use to make a clone backup. I should be set for a long time now!

Not really. I have 2 8TB external hard drives plus maybe 10 smaller ones. They fill up quickly!

I didn't see anything on hard disks. My entire life has been an extension of Murph's Law. Everything that goes wrong for me goes wrong, with a vengeance!

No matter how large your hard drive, it will always be 99% full.

    Murphy's Law of Hard Disks

The bigger your hard disk seems the day you buy it, the faster it will seem to fill up.

The trick then, if this law holds true,  is to buy smaller hard disks, the slower they will fill. Buy an ancient 40mb and see what happens.

I'd fill it in less than an hour!cheeky

Where do you guys get the time to make that much? I'm just getting a little crowded with a 2T backup.

Most of the stuff on my hard drive is the original DAZ stuff I bought. I'm probably over a decade behind in rendering the stuff I've bought in the past 19 years! Somedays I sit down, and just make a bunch of silly images so I can say I used some of the stuff.

I've been using a 2TB hard drive while I got around to buying the 3TB hard drive. Wow, I only have 247GB left after installing today's purchases and moving around some other stuff!

Wow , 19 years, I just arrived on the scene. Whats one of your first buys? Must the genesis 1?

I have noticed the products tend to fill up the HDD rather quickly...

Paintbox, Michael 1 and Victoria 1 were the first major characters. The Genesis characters arrived many years later. You might be a "newbie," but I bet you'll learn faster than I have. I still feel very much like a bumbling beginner!

From the title of the thread, I thought you were talking about your arm/shoulder. Did you ever get that resolved?

  • Ron KnightsRon Knights Posts: 2,137

I hope to see a Doctor next week about my arm. Thanks for asking.
