    I now worry about that too.  The wash repairman was here Friday.  I was right; timer needs to be replaced.  I can't afford the $300 for that.  Most upsetting is that he discovered the wall plug is arcing.  This house has aluminum wiring and it really needs a complete rewiring.  Now to find a reputable electrician and sell everything in the house so I can pay him.

     

    So sorry to hear about that!  I hope it doesn't really cost you that much.  Maybe keep everything in the house and sell the house?

    Aluminum wiring. surprisenoangry   Complete rewiring would be best but at the very least, your electrician should clean each connection in the whole system and make sure the proper aluminum-compatible switches and outlets are being used (if the proper type are even still available)  frown

    It's also going to cost a small fortune to rewire a full house.

    Just cash in a few CDs.  Or sell a yacht or two and just buy a new house in a better neighborhood. indecision  What!??? That's not an option? surprise  How odd.

    Ugh, Aluminum wiring... That sucks.

    Around here it was used a bit in the early 70s... It's actually illegal to repair it now, you have to replace it with copper if it's found.

    My house is over a hundred years old now, when it was new it actually had gas lighting... Last summer I found a section of wire, probably done in the twenties or very early thirties that was routed though the gas pipe... It had cloth insulation on the wires.

    Scary... I've been good with replacing anything that looks questionable, but that was by far the worst I've seen.

    non complaint For Starbucks there was this deal that ended today.  I buy two frappes and get 40 bonus stars towards a free drink.  It is about 125 stars for a free drink and I was at 80 stars.  Also one of the managers at work noticed I was on the schedule for Sunday which is the only day of the week that my main taxi has off which means unreliable transportation.  Also it was my guaranteed day to spend with Mum.  I wanted a decaf frappe but did not need two frappes, so I got the same frappe for the manager but regular.  It was a win win situation.  I thanked the manager with Starbucks and I get a free drink as fast as they can give me the bonus stars.

    non complaint 2 I was not on the schedule today but wanted to go to mall anyway for another reason.  I had my work shirt with me to ensure I get to the mall.  I ended up getting some more hours in by mainly sampling and washing dishes, which are my favorite two things to do at work.  I think I am the best sampler they have (as they have told me many times).  Basically sampling is where I have a sample of product (either sandwich or flavored lemonade) and I offer it to potential customers.  I also try my best to entertain the ones the line and also the potential customers so they come back.  Washing dishes is hopefully self explanatory as that entails washing dishes for prep and the ingredients needed for sandwiches, fries, and signature lemonades and etc

    Complaint:

    You ever have one of those days?

    This morning I had a kidney stone attack... I get them and it sucks... This one went (mostly) away after a few hours I have no idea if it moved or went away but it has mostly faded.

    To keep my mind off of the knife in my right side and being that doing any real thinking work is out of the question, I decided to just do some mindless outdoor chores that involve a lot of walking.

    So I decided to pick up some branches and leaves that were lying around out back and dump them on a mulch pile out in the woods... Apparently unbeknownst to me a giant wasp nest was installed in the path to the mulch... I got over a dozen stings, but three are really annoying... One on my stomach, one on my neck and the other next to my achilles tendon.  I can't fully express how much I hate wasps in the first place, let alone how angry that got got me... Not only did they sting me, they continued to go after me over two hundred feet from their nest... They actively were searching for me.

    If they had just stung me and stayed by their nest, I'd have let it go and made it a point to avoid the spot... But being so aggressive to actually continue going after me long after I completely left the area was a bad mistake... There is now a crater where their nest was.

    Then after all that nonsense, I gashed open my thumb on one of my ladders...

    I decided to just call it a day... I'm sitting here in such a foul mood... A dull ache in my side, my thumb is throbbing and I've got a bunch of burning little needles pokes still aggravating me (the one on my leg is really pissing me off).

    Electrical shocks, robots and wasp stings... They just trip my angry adrenaline monster so badly.

    Well... Complaint done... I hope everyone else is having a better day.

    Complaint my food is pretty much gone.  Non complaint I am no longer hungry.  Complaint my grande frappe is pretty much gone.  Non complaint, I do not have a brain freeze despite drinking a frappe so quickly.

    Complaint; I doubt I can go home yet as I am afraid no one is home right now.  If no one is home I have to wait outside and it might rain.  I have asked my support team to start helping me get an apartment.  Despite what I am told that group homes are not a punishment, I still think they are awful unless you really need them.  Maybe some people like going to programs that I think of adult day care, but I think they day programs are probably officially not an adult day care.  They are full of staff and mentally unstable people.  Some parts were fun but not most.  I hate the day program as it felt like they are trying to be great for everyone but only succeeding with the mentally challenged.  They have things like bingo to win candy 0.o or other games that are similar to jeopardy and hangman and so on.  Crafts were fun except they do not trust the clients with scissors unsupervised.  

    Computer lessons at day program were rudimentary such as how to make a flyer which had one major flaw, which is how to steal graphics from the web.  I rather learn hoe to use photoshop or if they are on a budget Gimp. I rather learn how to build a website instead of using Google.  Despite what most people think (and google lets on) there are other search engines.  

    Google is okay but Bing helps me with “free” Starbucks gift cards.  Every time I do a Bing search when logged in, I get points and they add up quickly as I do a lot of searching.  So far I have gotten two five dollar Starbucks gift cards.  My favorite ice coffee costs just under five dollars.  Might not be a great deal except I can get raspberry passion fruit tea lemonade as a free refill.  I pretty much get the biggest ice coffee with raspberry and white mocha before work when I do get it and then after work I get the raspberry passion fruit ice tea lemonade as a refill after work.  Since I work at a mall with a Starbucks, I have gold status with Starbucks reward card.  I pretty much find it too easy to maintain it.  I also know how to get extra stars without spending too much.

    Of course, if I went to a regular Starbucks (aka one not in the mall I work at) I would have to sit at Starbucks until they notice that I am just there to use their free WiFi and free refill policy being a gold member.  Also they might not be so willing to switch from ice coffee to ice tea lemonade.  Also any other Starbucks would not know my name or how I like my drinks.

    I rather work at a mall with a Starbucks than to go to the programs my housemates go to.  Also even though the stupid group home is way too expensive, I still get more spending money than most residents at my house and a typical group home.  I think it is better to have a job than to be jobless and broke all the time.  I wish I knew how to turn the cash in my pocket into a Daz Gift card though.

    @McGyver do you have any powdered meat tenderizer? put some in a spoon with a couple of drops of water then put that on the wasp stings and let it dry ,it will help break down the poisen of the sting

    Hmm,   that doesn't sound very logical to me. What chemicals are in a powdered meat tenderiser?   I was always taught to use vinegar or lemon juice, as Wasp stings are alkaline     Bee stings are acidic so they should be treated with baking soda.

    Actually the chemical is bromelian ,it's from pineapples ,but I have used it with great results on fire ant bites ,wasp stings ,man-o-war stings ,thistle spines .......the woman that recommended it to me said it breaks down the toxins not just neutralize it ,I use to keep a bottle in the first aid kit when my kids were little ,cause of the things they got into, though it probably wouldn't be good to use if you have a pineapple allergy.

    I guess I will stick with the stuff reccommended by a senior paramedic who was training some of my staff as first aiders at work.   BTW as neither they, nor I, were paramedics we could not use anything on wasp or bee stings, nor could we have it in our first aid kits.  However if my staff just happened to have it in their office then they could offer it to the patient (or patient's parent) for them to use.

    Thanks, I forgot about that one... We don't have meat tenderizer, we use a spikey mallet (which coincidentally I keep in the first aid kit too)... I was gonna use that, but more on the wasps...

    We do have a pineapple... I tried rubbing that on my chest (my clavicle actually, which is where the sting was)... Pineapples are uncomfortable fruits.

    My daughter gave me some kind of benydril spray and that seems to have mostly been sufficient. I've tried a lot of different remedies in the past, cucumber peels, willow pulp, meat tenderizer and even mud (clay rich muds, nothing with too much soil)... It's hard to say which ones work or don't, as I usually don't get a reaction (besides murderous rage)... Initially for a minute or two a sting feels like a burning needle, but then goes away... After a half hour it's usually faded away, maybe leaving a small red dot.  These three seem to have lasted longer... I think in this case I probably smashed the wasp and the stinger broke off in my skin... Wasps don't have barbs like bees do, so they can keep stinging over and over (suppose they get bored eventually), but a bunch of times I've smashed them while they were stinging me and made the sting worse.

    All of that goes out the window for Bald Face Wasps (the ones I encounter most are Yellow Jackets)...  Bald face wasps are the big black and white ones... Around here they are usually around 3/4 of inch long and those leave a really uncomfortable welt behind... In one case the welts turned into small bruises, which was weird.

    Thanks for the suggestion, I should keep it in mind, if not for me, for my kids, who so far as we know have never been badly stung.

    ...crikey sounds like a bad day all right.

    Well at least it wasn't enough to trigger the "Lou Ferrigno" effect where you turn green and all muscular then say, grab parked car and throw it at the wasps' nest (also never understood how the Hulk's shirt, socks, and shoes all shredded but never his pants or BVDs).

    However, am curious about how the area where the wasps' nest was became a crater.

    I ordered ten prints from free prints app on my iPhone with apple pay.  The payment went through and the number of "free" photos got deducted (turned out only 8 of 10 were considered "free").  I could not find the order confirmation in email or on the app.  Now they sent it, but it took a while.

    I think I am going to have spaghetti for breakfast.  I am not hungry enough right now to eat it but I will eat it for breakfast.  I had 4 worms for a snack.  Forgot which brand but I got them from the dollar tree candy isle.  I like dollar tree, I think.  Or maybe it is also because my Mum likes dollar tree and we go there a lot.  I think yesterday we went to two dollar trees.  Yep yesterday we went to two dollar trees. I bought a bunch of stuff at one but could not find the item I really wanted there and mum wanted something she could not find at the first one so we went to a second one.  I was going to get a calendar but decided to get the two items I was looking for maybe months or half a year or something.

    Actually the chemical is bromelian ,it's from pineapples ,but I have used it with great results on fire ant bites ,wasp stings ,man-o-war stings ,thistle spines .......the woman that recommended it to me said it breaks down the toxins not just neutralize it ,I use to keep a bottle in the first aid kit when my kids were little ,cause of the things they got into, though it probably wouldn't be good to use if you have a pineapple allergy.

    Thanks, I forgot about that one... We don't have meat tenderizer, we use a spikey mallet (which coincidentally I keep in the first aid kit too)... I was gonna use that, but more on the wasps...

    We do have a pineapple... I tried rubbing that on my chest (my clavicle actually, which is where the sting was)... Pineapples are uncomfortable fruits.

    My daughter gave me some kind of benydril spray and that seems to have mostly been sufficient. I've tried a lot of different remedies in the past, cucumber peels, willow pulp, meat tenderizer and even mud (clay rich muds, nothing with too much soil)... It's hard to say which ones work or don't, as I usually don't get a reaction (besides murderous rage)... Initially for a minute or two a sting feels like a burning needle, but then goes away... After a half hour it's usually faded away, maybe leaving a small red dot.  These three seem to have lasted longer... I think in this case I probably smashed the wasp and the stinger broke off in my skin... Wasps don't have barbs like bees do, so they can keep stinging over and over (suppose they get bored eventually), but a bunch of times I've smashed them while they were stinging me and made the sting worse.

    All of that goes out the window for Bald Face Wasps (the ones I encounter most are Yellow Jackets)...  Bald face wasps are the big black and white ones... Around here they are usually around 3/4 of inch long and those leave a really uncomfortable welt behind... In one case the welts turned into small bruises, which was weird.

    Thanks for the suggestion, I should keep it in mind, if not for me, for my kids, who so far as we know have never been badly stung.

    I had to call Terminix last year to get rid of a nest of Bald Faced Wasps.  I took some photos, then researched and found out what they were.  They are said to be quite hostile.  I didn't want to mess with them.  Fortunately, I was told that they don't come back to the same spot to make a nest again.  Hopefully I'll never see another one.  This one was right on my house!  surprise

    This morning I had a kidney stone attack... I get them and it sucks... This one went (mostly) away after a few hours I have no idea if it moved or went away but it has mostly faded.

One on my stomach, one on my neck and the other next to my achilles tendon.  I can't fully express how much I hate wasps in the first place, let alone how angry that got got me... Not only did they sting me, they continued to go after me over two hundred feet from their nest... They actively were searching for me.

    If they had just stung me and stayed by their nest, I'd have let it go and made it a point to avoid the spot... But being so aggressive to actually continue going after me long after I completely left the area was a bad mistake... There is now a crater where their nest was.

    Then after all that nonsense, I gashed open my thumb on one of my ladders...

    I decided to just call it a day... I'm sitting here in such a foul mood... A dull ache in my side, my thumb is throbbing and I've got a bunch of burning little needles pokes still aggravating me (the one on my leg is really pissing me off).

    Electrical shocks, robots and wasp stings... They just trip my angry adrenaline monster so badly.

    Well... Complaint done... I hope everyone else is having a better day.

    Well at least it wasn't enough to trigger the "Lou Ferrigno" effect where you turn green and all muscular then say, grab parked car and throw it at the wasps' nest (also never understood how the Hulk's shirt, socks, and shoes all shredded but never his pants or BVDs).

    However, am curious about how the area where the wasps' nest was became a crater.

    I use the calendar in Outlook for my appointments.  It has the advantage of popping up a reminder at a specified time before the appointment.  A paper calendar does not do that.
