I haven't tried this one specifically, but in general Daz Studio beta versions are installed separately from the current release. You can use both on the same computer.

Edit: Ninja'd by Alex. I need to type faster. smiley

Just be aware that some of the big plugins only work with one version at a time as I found out.  Like for me I use GoZ Bridge for DAZ Studio / ZBrush, now that I have the beta installed, while my General release of DAZ Studio still functions just fine it no longer has a Bridge to ZBrush because the Bridge is written to support just one version of DAZ Studio at at time so with DS 4.11 Beta on board that version of the Bridge was installed so I can test it out.

So yea, you can have a General release and a Beta release of DAZ Studio installed but Bridges may not be available in both, I don't know about the bridges for Photoshop or Hexagon as I don't use thoes particular bridges!

It also seems you have to re-install certain products everytime you upgrade the public beta. For example all the AoA products for 3DL(effect cameras, lights and shaders) will not work without re-installing.

    Ah, didn't know that!  Hmmm

Oops, never mind. All the things I was so excited about were from earlier releases!

It's been a while since I tried one of these public betas. Can I try 4.11 and still have 4.10 available to use? Or will the beta overwrite my current version?

@Kitsumo, As others have stated, the beta and production version can both be installed at the same time. If you have the 4.10 beta installed, you can also install the 4.11 beta if you change the install directory in DIM. Here is step-by-step I posted in the official 4.11 beta thread yesterday:

    L'Adair said:

    …for Windows computers:

    1. open DIM and click on the Start button
    2. after DIM is fully loaded, click on the "gear" icon in the upper right corner to access your settings
    3. in the resulting popup, click on the Installation tab
    4. you should now see options to locate the path for "64 bit Software" and "32 bit software"
    5. note the current path for "64 bit Software" and write it down if it's something other than C:/Program Files
    6. click on the "…" button, (ellipsis) to the right of the "64 bit Software" option
    7. browse to your preferred alternate location, creating a new folder if necessary, and Select Folder. For example, c:/DazBeta
    8. click on Accept.

Now install the Public Beta files

Once the beta files are installed

    1. click on the "gear" icon in the upper right corner to access your settings
    2. click on the "…" button, (ellipsis) to the right of the "64 bit Software" option
    3. browse to location you noted in step 5 above and Select Folder
    4. click on Accept

(One caveat: I have not done this myself.)

If you decide to try this, keep in mind what @RAMWolff said about plugins, (I can confirm, however, that the Hexagon bridge works in both,) and what Sven Dullah said about re-installing some products. (It might be prudent to not reinstall products for this second beta install…)

I've not seen that. They do need to be reinstalled the first time you add a new release type (such as the Public beta) or bit-depth (32 vs 64) as they need to place files in the application folder, but unless they have updates that should be it.

Aah, thanks Richard! I'll install the newest beta then, I had a lot of trouble getting everything to work last time with the 4.10 version, so I thought I'd have to deal with all that everytime:)
