The neck is exceptionally realistic, I think.
Hands and feet also make the older figure work.
Here's the 2.5 seconds of posing & moving stuff image to see how the hands/feet render... nothing fancy.
I am LOVING Mabel which is a big surprise to me because I usually do sexy pinups or fairies. But what is so great about Mabel is that although her skin is distinctive (and great except for the horrible application of blue eyeshadow), her face looks good with pretty much any morph! I have a feeling I will take her base skin into Photoshop and give her a ton more makeup!
Here I combined like 15-20 morphs and then used as a background a photo I took a few years ago at Forest Lawn (a huge cemetery in LA.) then played with expressions trying to convey the feeling of sadness and whistfulness held in behind an attempt of a smile or old grief trying to be squelched.
And don't forget, someone who is 70 now could have been a teen at Woodstock! I tried to give her a little ex-hippie vibe LOL.
That's a gorgeous render Gogger :D
Still playing with this. I need to figure out the settings for hair to make it smoother and more convincing, but otherwise I think Mabel renders pretty well! I can't believe how close I came to passing on her.

Another skimpwear shot...
... of Hagred (from the Pro Bundle).
Having fun morphing characters for her!
I'm obsessed with Mabel! There's so much you can do with her! This one even has some Aiko 7&8 in her LOL.
Blanche skin on a Mabel mix with high translucency. OK, got to stop. Who knew I'd become obsessed with an older character when I'm so used to doing pinupy type stuff!
I'm having a lot of fun... I did Wilhelmina's promos and I had to confirm with my dad (who is a car person and works at a old car museum.... so he loved the car promo a LOT)

and then recuperating at home in the evening after gallavanting about town in her fabulous car :D
(btw I think when I'm older I'll be an old cat lady, but apparently Wilhelmina's a dog person) :)
Wonderland........Great!!!
she makes a good witch ;)
Thanks.
I agree that everyone should feel attractive and positive about themselves. I love the line from Battlestar Galactica... "Every woman has her beauty, her feminine charms that are hers and hers alone". This is something I very much agree with. I mainly wanted to show the skin, and I wasn't so much into "grandma" style imagery.
I don't like the Mabel pro bundle because it's so one-note. I wish there was more elegant/sexy in it, but they went heavy with the hag/frumpy grandma look. Many of the images in this thread go against a lot of the contents of the bundle.
Anyway, one more blend including Penny. Add Penny 8, and you dial up the pretty for sure.
Sort of an Ann Margret vibe there!
Alexandra, Edward, Floyd, and Mabel. Thank you DAZ. That was long overdue.
One of the whole selling points to the Genesis platform from the very start was that it could be just about anything, of any age. But the bases have just about always been solidly teens to maybe 30-somethings. If we were lucky. If we wanted anything outside that range we had to either roll our own, or hope for a PA who saw a niche. Zev0 shouldn't have had to carry nearly the whole load of providing the kids and old people all by himself.
Now let's see some official kids. Ones we can use the skins for without having to deal with five o'clock shadow or eyeliner and groomed eyebrows.
This Mabel doesn't have much money, but she's happy with what she has.
The thing is the skin that comes with Mabel is a (very well done) weathered skin of someone who does not really take care of it. A little exfoliation and some moisturizing could probably make the skin look at least 10 years younger in real life. So the skin kind of appears to belong to someone REALLY elderly, like in an old age home, 90's and above. Sagging is hard to get rid of without surgery but skin can look decent even at advanced age if you take care of it and didn't spend your whole life in the sun. So a person with Mabel's skin probably would not be a 70 year-old sexy glamour queen because otherwise she would have taken better care of her skin... (And probably would have done anything she could for some cosmetic or surgical enhancements.) And any decent base face makeup (foundation) would remove a lot of the (very well done! ) flaws. I think Mabel's skin looks much older than that of a 70 year-old who takes care of her skin, so it can tend towards more grandmotherly and frumpy characters. When I did the image further up of the woman in yellow at Forest Lawn who was not meant to be frumpy at all, I kept thinking that if only this woman exfoliated, moisturized and wore foundation, she'd look so much better! If she can gob on the blue eye shadow, you'd think she'd pay more attention to the rest of the skin LOL!
The Mabel bundle is great because you can use all the parts for different things, A 20 year-old from 1950 in curlers.... Everything in the bundle can be used on characters of any age and some have an early 1960's look and I love doing period pieces so I'm really happy I passed on the Kaylee bundle (which is so similar to things I already own) and got this instead!
Thanks!
I think Mabel is wonderful.
I can't decide on Mabel, the old witch look for Halloween is tempting but I also have my eye on the free bundles. If daz 3 dragon were included I just might purchase.
Speaking of the witch, Hagred is looking pretty awesome.
I was hoping someone might try for Granny Weatherwax
very cool Stinger!
Thank you Samanthie!
I bought Mabel the day after release, but because of work today is the first chance I've had to install her and try some renders. A fantastic character in her own right, and a great companion for Floyd.
Mabel 8 with a little friend.

Hypocrite.
Wrote a long harangue about the dignity of the older female characters (meant every single word).
But, coincidentaly was asked to make an image.
In fairness to myself backed away from usual, stayed with dignity, but still stereotype.
Felt badly, posting this was a form of soul cleansing.
Probably my favourite Mabel 8 render so far. I think her hair looks really well on her, and I love the way the toad is snuggling in. I've enjoyed seeing the other renders on the thread too, especially the ones with the dogs.
Gotta ask who or what is the little friend ?
