How to transfer V4/M4 character on Genesis/Genesis 2?

Can't find a tutorial that would explain that, but I am sure someone already has figured it out.

In other words, how can I have the great Bailarin de Fuego as a Genesis, or even better, Genesis 2 character?

I can transfer the skin, but I can't seem to be able to transfer the face morphs. The body morphs seem to work but not the face

For V4/M4 morphs to Genesis, you need GenX http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x. The skins will work out of the box by default.

For V4/M4 skins to Genesis 2 Female, you need 2 things:
    1) http://www.daz3d.com/top-sellers/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female (this gives you the V4 UV for G2F and more)
    2) resave the skins out in DUF format (G2F will not take pz2 or previous DS formats)

V4 morphs to G2F is a little more complicated. It would require using GenX to bring it over to Genesis 1 first, and then a lengthy process to transfer that morph to G2F from Genesis. Here's the thread on transfering Genesis 1 morphs to G2F: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24093/

For the morph transfer to G2F, imo, it's worth it to wait for an update to GenX.

I am actually ok with the skin. It's for the morphs that I have a problem.

For the specific woman that I linked to, the INJ file to create her face and body only works if I have selected "Legacy INJection slots" in the interface that appears when I double-clicked the cr2 file for Victoria 4.2. Then, I can have her face work no problem on Victoria 4.2 base.

If I try to use that same INJ file on Genesis, nothing happens. I have the plug-ins required for that transfer (Generation X), but nothing seems to allow the INJ file have any effect on the Genesis figure... any idea?

You use GenX to transfer the morphs to Genesis, it doesn't allow the pz2 to be used directly on it.

Open GenX (Windows > Tabs > GenX).

On the Transfer tab, you should have an empty box in the middle.
    Drag in V4.2
    Drag in the Legacy INJ
    Drag in the Morph++ INJ
    Drag in the character INJ.
Right click > Transfer ON for all non-zero values.
    Create Single Morph
    Hit Transfer.

Repeat for each INJ you want to do. For instance, if you prefer keeping head/body separate (most V4 morphs had them separate) you do this process twice. If you want one full injection for Genesis, drag both the head and body in before you use Transfer ON.

    /edit
You can enable/disable/delete morphs transferred via GenX in the Morphs tab of the GenX window. I haven't figured out what the Presets tab is for.

Actually, the GenX tab is all greyed out. No idea why. but I can't click any button in there nor drag any file or character. Is there something I should unlock?

I have verified in the About plugins that the GenX was enabled, and it's all green, no need to enter my registration or anything else

That is out of my scope. When I reinstalled everything, GenX never asked me for a registration in 4.6 like it did in 4.0, but everything works fine on my end.

Did you purchase the Generation X I linked above, or one labeled Gen4 Upgrade?

    Generation X (full version): http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x
    Generation X (Gen4 Upgrade): http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x-upgrade-from-gen4
The upgrade version is for people who purchased the previous version when it was available at another store.

Oh, you're also going to need these to get the morphs to look right on Genesis: http://www.daz3d.com/v4-and-m4-shapes-for-genesis

I have both of them, and I remember using it some months ago, but I can't remember how I managed it.

And I have the morphs as well... :)

Not sure what I should do from there...

There may be a conflict. Uninstall the Gen4 upgrade version as you don't need it if you have the full version.

With the GenX 2 plugin, can I take a V4 character out of the box, or even with morphs, transfer to a Genesis base character, and it will have the same body shape and skin (essentially the same character as the V4)?

No. You will also need the base V4 shape which you can purchase separately.

GenerationX basically translates the difference between the meshes (ie, what the morph does to the V4 model) to Genesis, so it won't look correct if you don't start from the same base appearance.

Yes, I'm sorry that's what I meant, applied to the V4 base, with optional morphs applied on top/after the fact, and then translate it to a base Genesis character (added to the scene I suppose?).

It sounds like this will work, yes? And skin texture and make-up options, etc., are all transferred as well?

Then I can go ahead with any other Genesis morphs and plugins I have?

GenX does not transfer the textures but that can be done by hand, so that will not stop you from creating your figure.

I've always had trouble manually applying a skin mat (texture) from V4 to a Genesis base; it never takes (not that I really expceted it to). So if the GenX transfer is really just a Genesis morph with "instructions" from a V4 model applied to it, it's hard to imagine that applying the texture from V4 will work on the resultant, modified Genesis base.

V4 textures are 100% compatible with Genesis one. For a V4 texture to work on The Genesis 2 figures they must first be converted to the DUF file format. All that is need to do that is to Load the texture on a Genesis1 and then Save the full Surfaces Tab as a Materials Preset. You then need the V4 UV clone for the G2F. And then Apply the V4 .duf texture to the G2F.

Sorry for necro-ing this thread but I had a related question - is it possible to get the GenX transferred morphs onto Victoria 6 from the Genesis 2 female figure?

    Thanks!

Victoria 6 is a morph for Genesis 2 Female, so there's nothing to transfer: all morphs for Genesis 2 Female can be conbined with the V6 shape already.

This plugin makes me pound my head on the wall until its a bloody pulp.

  • Is this able to transfer 3rd party head morphs like the ones that Joe Quck did for Michael 4?

  • BeeMKayBeeMKay Posts: 7,019

Yes, as long it's a morph for M4, you should be fine.
