*Really* tempting. It there had been an LAMH preset for it It would have lept into my cart. But Iray... Er, not.

Will keep it in mind though. Much more convenient than needing to GenX  Sparky's M4 anthros.

We had a digitigrade rabbit at one point.   I’ve done a few anthro rabbit and kanga morphs for G8...

BRILLIANT!  I happen to need otter people for a project.  Being able to use autofit clothes is even better!

Fox, beaver and raccoon would be very welcome too.

A LAMH add-on would be cool as well.

I find LAMH just about impossible to use. I ended up creating Oso Fur specifically to not use LAMH.

I hope someday either LAMH is made significantly easier to use or a better solution comes along.

    Until then...

if you do a fox, take in consideration japan mythology where kitsunes can have up to 9 tails, please :)

Water rats and beavers sound cool to populate worlds with otters too.

Also I would love to see a basic kit of hairy collar and fluffy fairy wings with a basic moth antennaes add-on for all Genesis 8 male and female. Can't wait to see your future releases!

Me too,   I’m really hoping for a native/Iray solution.

This went straight into my cart!  I'm so hoping that the vendor will do another Furries as a cat.  There was a cat someone did awhile back for RDNA called Sassafras, which I've really regreted not buying ever since it disappeared.  I'd sure like to have another one similiar to that, with the exception that it's based on G8 like the Otter.  Everything goes better with G8 lol!  But seriously, a cat like that would be so awesome!

Yes, a Kitsune with options for multiple tails based on a G8 that will autofit clothes would be wonderful.  There is an older figure for V4/M4, but difficult to transfer.   Foxes able to shape-shift to human or humanoid form seems to be Ur-myth, common to many cultures.  But the western equivalents had only one tail.  In Scandanavian countries, there are white snow fox variants.

I really like Fred Gallagher's depiction of Kitsune in the Megatokyo webcomic.

Cat furries/Nekojin would be good too.  G8-based furries in general are very welcome.

I can't remember if I asked this about Oso Fur before, but does anybody know if it can be converted to 3Delight?  I have a proffessional script for conversion that I bought from the other store.

Well I think he said the 'fur' look depthwise was obtained via displacement and displacemwent I've read in the forums works better in DS in 3DL than in iRay. I'm sure Will (Oso3D) will be along shortly to clarify better than I.

It's a procedural (uses features specific to Iray) shader, so probably not.

There are other fur shaders for 3Delight, though, like Furify.

What vwrangler said. I think you might be able to do something with AoA grass? Maybe?

I’m familiar with the Kitsune; the problem there is that a geograft tail attaches in a particular spot. One option would be doing conforming items, but those are rare for tails. The other problem I face is that I pretty much HAVE to use LAMH or fibermesh; the long hair of a Fox isn’t going to work well with Oso fur.

As for cats, Rawart does have cat world in the store for G8. Though of course a diversity of styles is always nice.

    Re: LAMH:

You can probably convert the fur length maps to LAMH density maps, which will help a little. Good luck. :)

  • as for 3DL materials, some are on the way.... :) early wip:

Thanks everyone, that's kinda what I was afraid of.  I love the look of Oso fur, but I'm a stricktly 3Delight gal.

    Ooh, I'm intrigued!

Oh, while I'm at it, I would like to suggest that an anthro raccoon might do very well about now.  Something about the galaxy, and guarding it... yes, a raccoon that could wear clothes would be very helpful!

I second that - although I would use it for a very different character : )

Oso has opened Pandora's box now we are all impatient with a long list of furries to be made. Mine would be a fox, a red panda, a rabbit, , a lynx and a beaver. Also furry fairy moth wings!

Has anyone done any full color renders of Oso Otter without his fur?  I'm curious as to how the figure stands up just by itself, in case I can't get a fur shader to look good.

I’m on a family vacation but if nobody beats me to it, I’ll try to get some furless shots.

In the clay model promo, the figure on the left doesn’t have the fur layer.

I think the base looks decent, particularly for a slightly more stylized look. But I like fuzz.

  • the displacement without the fur is very good, you can see it in the promos. its pretty simple to get the fur looking good in 3dl IMO

I'm on the fence. I want to buy but can the arms & legs be shortened a whole lot to give more of 'otter' otter look?

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,085

The otter shape morph is specifically that length. You can dial in other morphs, of course, and that might create the particular look you want.

I’ll also point out that short limbs are problematic for morphs. First, it’s hard to get clothing to fit without serious issues. Second, the limbs will bend oddly and require a lot of extra jcms to get them to look decent.

I chose the current proportions as a compromise for a solid anthro style.

They work fine with dynamic loincloths though!  Cute little fellas.  10/10 would buy more Oso furries.  I've even used them in a promo for my own next thing.

  • I am intrested in this cute little guy, though is the head and body seperate morphs or one morph?

All one thing. There’s always xmorph if you want to split them.

Keep in mind the tail is a geograft so you can do a tailless figure if you want. (And I took pains so that the maps look right with or without a tail)

That's fine. I will keep that in mind.
